Republic of Stonewyth
Overview
The Republic of Stonewyth is a small, landlocked stronghold of elves. The majority of the country is mountainous and rocky, making it somewhat difficult to navigate. It is the oldest state on the continent. The capital city of Ryenthyr sits on the peaks of the Aiwenor mountain range. Very few outsiders have been to the city itself, as only the citizens of Stonewyth knows how to reach its peaks via secret tunnels and passes.Structure
The Republic is run by a Head of State. Every 80 years, an election is held to determine the Head. The Head is held accountable by an elected senate, for which elections are held every 40 years.
History
Stonewyth is the oldest state in Eyrar. Driven out of Wradia, the group known as the Nythelneas Elves made their way to the top of Mount Mindon for safety. They created a safe haven for themselves that was only accessible by secret pathways and hidden passes. The city atop the mountains was dubbed Ryenthyr, a utopia for the high elven society.
Religion
Like much of the world, Stonewyth worships the host in its entirety, but they view Aureon as the head of the Host. Since the Nythelneas mythology states that the elves were created by Aureon himself, they hold him in special regard.
Agriculture & Industry
The plains surrounding the Aiwenor mountain range are rich for grain, but the populations that live high in the mountains thrive off of wild plants and specialized mountain livestock.
Trade & Transport
Stonewyth and Wraidia have an outstanding trade agreement for fine metals and stones, known as the Gleaming Treaty.
Education
Education is held in very high regard in the Stonewyth society.
Infrastructure
Beautiful and complex aqueducts extend high into the glaciers on the mountain peaks. As the snows melt in the summer, the water travels down into Ryenthyr where it is stored in mountainside wells. The caverns keep the water chilled, but prevent it from freezing in the cold seasons. Often there is enough to last through the frozen winters
The mountain passes in the Aiwenor range are some of the most complex in the world. They are easily traversable...if you know where to look.
