Elder Cyclopes
The Elder Cyclopes (Kyklopes), Arges, Brontes and Steropes, are a trio of Quasi-Deities and the Titan offspring of the Primordial Deity Gaia. The Elder Cyclopes are commonly treated as a single entity, usually operating as a single unit.
The Elder Cyclopes are the ancestors of the Cyclopes species, monstrous Giantkin, each with a single eye set in the middle of their foreheads. The Elder Cyclopes are said to be incredibly bright, as well as brilliant crafters and inventors, responsible for forging many of the Gods' prized artefacts during the Gigantomachy, like the Thunderbolt of Zeus, the Trident of Poseidon and the Helm of Hades. But unfortunately their offspring, the Cyclopes, did not inherit their Elder's brains nor their craftiness, instead following the Earth Mother Gaia in her monstrous ways.
The Elder Cyclopes were birthed and moulded by their mother Gaia as part of her plot to usurp the Divine Pantheon and conquer the Universe in Gaia's name. But the Cyclopes were rejected and discarded by their mother, along with their siblings the Hecatoncheires, thought to be too weak, not suited for the conquest Gaia envisioned. This filled the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires with hatred and resentment for their mother, so when the Gigantomachy waged across the Planes, Athena in her wisdom, convinced the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires to join the side of the Pantheon. With their new allies, and the powerful weapons crafted by the Elder Cyclopes, the Pantheon stood victorious against the forces of Gaia.
The Elder Cyclopes are said to reside within the Plane of Olympus, working within the Divine Forge of Hephaestus, located beneath Mount Olympus, where the work alongside Hephaestus, continuing to craft the tools and weapons for the Armies of the Heavens.
Appearance
The Elder Cyclopes are described as towering, masculine Cyclops, Giants far larger than their offspring, with muscular bodies, tan earthen skin and a single eye in the middle of their foreheads.
The Elder Cyclopes are rarely distinguished between each other, possibly with them being largely identical. Arges is sometimes described with long, earth coloured, brown hair, and a thick beard. Brontes is sometimes described as bald and beardless. Steropes is sometimes described with a long beard of earth coloured, brown hair, and a singular horn protruding from his bald head.
Personality
There are not many depictions of the Elder Cyclopes, as they rarely appears in myths or legends beyond being named. They are generally said to be incredibly bright, as well as brilliant crafters and inventors.
