Summer Camp Prep 2024

Well, to be honest. I am behind the ball on this Summer Camp Prep thing as June has been a hectic and disorienting month for me and my personal life. It is only by chance that on June 25th I noticed that Summer Camp was upon us. So my Weekly Preparations are falling into a few days possibly hours, but HERE WE GO!

Week #1 (Actually June 27, 2024) (Theme: Change)

Assignment #1 (Set a Goal): I want to establish more foundation in my world in the form of Maps (I'm a Map Guy) these inspire my stories and creativity, and I want to build on the lore of all my settlements in Evermyst so that it becomes a useful tool not just for me but those that chose to follow my world and maybe make use of it themselves. My personal life is still hectic so I had to consider seriously how much I can get done in a month. I have a tendency to get scattered, so this year I promise all my writings will be dedicated to the world of Evermyst. I won't look at a summer camp prompt and say "Oh this should go into this other world of mine" Those are my Goals.
Assignment #2 (Download and Sign the Pledge Document): OK Easy, and Done although I had to convert it to a .jpg image to be posted here. I set my Goal at the Silver badge as this is how many articles I think I could get done in this time I May do more but in the past Summer Camp I was only able to achieve Copper I tend to find some Summer Camp Prompts less inspiring to things I want to write about I'm hoping to do as many as I can but my Goal is 16 Articles.
Assignment #3 (Update the Meta Data): Well I took a look at it giving some minor tweaks, but I'm still learning about Meta. My world of Evermyst is System Agnostic for a reason #1 I want it to be used no matter what fantasy RPG I or those who would like to use it. #2 I am embracing more independent or OSR RPG games and am not happy with how one big company is overshadowing so many other cool RPG's. I may revisit this in the future after getting a better understanding of how this helps others find or see your world.
Assignment #4 (Take a Look at Meta & Primer): There will be changes in the following ways. The scrollable view of the world map behind my landing page I find it distracting and makes navigation difficult at first, and I hope to expand on the Primer for this world. Let's see if I can remember how to do this.

Week #2 (Actually June 28, 2024) (Theme: Refuge)

Assignment #1 (An Accountability Buddy): I really have to rely on myself but I will ask one of my gaming friends to check on me and my Progress. Time alone suits me and my creativity best I am always doing things for other people in Real life and I often neglect myself.
Assignment #2 (Find a Community): I will probably go to a few Friends on Facebook and perhaps share some of my articles on the World Anvil and Basic Fantasy RPG Facebook groups for some input.
Assignment #3 (Improve Layout of your World): I am NO CSS WiZARD, NOT EVEN AN APPRENTICE! but I will try to do what I can to improve the overall layout of the world.
Assignment #4 (Turn in My Report): Well I have changed the overall page style of my World of Evermyst and tried to make some more things visually appealing. I am in the process of putting in Newer Maps of cities I have created rather than Randomly generated ones starting with the City of Longdale. I intend to go forward with City maps for each city that I have created. I dropped a message to a Gamer buddy and asked him to check out my Evermyst home page and let me know what he thinks of the layout and changes since I started the Summer Camp Prep.

Week #3 (Also Actually June 28, 2024) (Theme: Belief)

Assignment #1 (Inspiration, What Beliefs, Genre, & Foundation Points Fit My World): I always take inspiration from Music, and Spotify is my Goto when I am in a creative mood. I also get inspiration from nature that is not that far away from me here in central California some of it on one way or another may shape or inspire my descriptions a take of similarity. Assignment #2 (Prepare Images, Galleries, Maps): This is a big part of my Goal for this Summer Camp I already have put together many inspirational images in designated Evermyst Folders Admittedly I like to use AI art for this although I would love to have an Artist on call to color my world I have neither the funds nor the ear of an aspiring artist but perhaps someday. Maps are a big part of this I love making maps is sparks my thoughts about the lore of the locale I am making a map of. 
Assignment #3 (Find Art and Pictures that Inspire Me): There are times that Color Art is Captivating but I also love the Simpler Black and white art of older OSR RPGs I think both can fill the need. I find Photorealistic AI art to be less appealing to me I still want it to look like it has been painted or drawn. Like my comments and thoughts in Assignment #2 I collected folders dedicated to art that I plan to use for my world of Evermyst. It is now more of a matter of time and doing it.
Assignment #4 (Find, Produce, Share Some Inspirational Pieces): Summer Camp Prep inspired me to look at some of my past articles and update them like my Town of Longdale it inspired me to Make a Map of the city in a matter of hours This Map inspires me as well as a couple of pieces of Black and White Artwork That I think fit in my world of Evermyst.

Week #4 (Actually Still June 28, 2024) (Theme: Decay)

Assignment #1 (What Kind of Decay Fits Evermyst and its Genre): Decay comes in many Forms in Evermyst those that we see and are often evident like Disease, Famine, collapse of Morality of Individuals, and even Governments or Factions. Greed and Power often are followed by Decay, In the Southern Continent of Elabor the Drelarian Dynasty rules much of the continent The Mageocracy Rules many of its Magelords face and fight back against decay in their quests for more Magical and Political Power while others tap into its Influences. With Powerful magics being unleashed and sought after Undead and Undeath can be looked at as Decay except maybe for the Gods such a Cuxris the God of Death and Destruction, Lubris the God of Pestulance, and Diemos the God of Death & Necromancy. Gods like Abbrus and the Elven God Annumdir See this Decay as only part of Transition from the Physical to the sprit world over time all things Decay and thus this leads to Trasition, rebirth, new and different beginnings. These are some things I want to Highlight in Evermyst.
Assignment #2 (Tidy Up and Establish some Writing Strategy): Well my desk is messy. Soon to be taken care of actually less clutter than expected. Part of my Strategy is to take a look as some Fellow World Anvilite's worlds and pick out a few things I like in the arrangement of their world and presentation I need to learn how to Embed youtube videos in my articles again for some reason I am having trouble doing that. Can anybody help?
Assignment #3 (Review your world Home page): I thought this was visited in an earlier week Assignment but I did make some changes to some of the Introductory for Evermyst. It will be something I probably Tweek again soon. I did add a Political boundries map to the Home page with plans on expansion of lore for the separate kingdoms and regions.
Assignment #4 (Review your Author Page and Pillar Articles and Polish them): "Who's That Dork? Oh Me..." Ok I'm gonna Break out the Brasso and a clean soft cloth. Just a little humor I will Think hard about what needs to be changed and make an effort to improve this. I guess since my worlds have been neglected until most recently there is a bit of "Decay" here we will work on revitalizing this.

Closing Remarks

I have been absent and away from my World Anvil account for some time due to real-life issues and only by Happen Chance noticed that Summer Camp 2024 was getting underway if this Prep Article does not qualify for the badge because I did not follow the timeline I understand. This was my Crunch time challenge go at it In either case BRING ON SUMMER CAMP 2024!
