The Arcanist Elite
The Arcanist Elite is the sacred champion of Eldreon, god of magic and mysteries. Unlike other gods, Eldreon rarely chooses a mortal champion, though when he does it is always an Elf, and usually a Langite. It is widely speculated that Elves are chosen specifically so that Eldreon does not need to bother choosing another every few generations. When not actively on a mission from Eldreon themselves, The Arcanist Elite typically travels the material plane in search of forgotten knowledge to turn into The Worldspyre for study. Curiously, there is no record of any champion of Eldreon having been magically capable before being chosen. Usually, the chosen champions were soldiers before becoming the Arcanist Elite. While Eldreon has never spoken with their followers about what the criteria is, but commonalities have been noticed by worshippers who study such things. The Arcanist Elite is always an elf with some sort of martial prowess and a complete inability to do magic. The champions are always curious and inquisitive, oftentimes getting into some sort of trouble because of this before being chosen. A soldier who questions orders, a street urchin brawler who blackmails the wealthy, or a city guard unable to let go of an investigation all stand a chance of becoming Eldreon's champion.
Upon being chosen, the champion finds the magic sword Enlightenment, a sentient weapon that is in itself a spellcaster. In combat, champion and sword work together to defeat enemies with martial skill and magical prowess working together. After the imbuing, the Arcanist Elite begins to develop an affinity for magic in a similar manner to a sorcerer, and in fact on a few occasions the imbuing has activated latent bloodline mutations but this is not always the case. No further abilities are granted to the Arcanist Elite, though the natural immortal condition of Elves means that they have a hypothetical eternity to master magic.
