The Adventure Begins
Our heroes meet up outside of the Grand Library of Tilanos in Dragonscale. Kentaro had asked each other member of the party to meet him here before, he had a job for them and needed their help. One by one they arrived. Raphael, a Dragonscale local and holy chosen of Lyrica. Nodi, dropout wizard on a quest for knowledge. And Chuffy, a ripped goblin out to destroy magic. Surely, nothing can possibly go wrong.
Kentaro noticed a mysterious hooded figure clad all in gray beckoning to him from the shadows. He led the party there, and they encountered a magic door that led them into the demesne of Farangenor himself, the Lord High Magister of the Empire. To make a very long story short and to spare my current players the pain of re-reading:
- There are 144 ultra powerful artifacts laying around
- They can be tracked with the magic compass the party received
- Others will be searching for them
- If you use them, they will attract other seekers to yourself
- Farangenor wants them destroyed, so turned in to him. He makes no promises about the other Seekers, and this is off the books.
Planning in the Lake Dragon
While the others were shown to their rooms by Kathilda, the kindly Orc inkeeper, Raphael couldn't help but notice that the inn was being entertained by a gnomish harper. He approached her and joined in the song with his lyre, showed her his brand of Lyrica's holy symbol, and the two got to talking about all the excitement in Dragonscale lately. She told him all about how even though the Prince himself was coming to the city for the festival and there would be plenty of opportunities, an unusual number of new adventuring parties had been forming and leaving the city ahead of the event. These, then, would be the Seekers. Rafi bid farewell to the harper, Jillia, and joined his fellows at their table for drinks. The unusual adventurers were as follows and described in enough detail that the group can recognize them on sight:
- The Seekers in Shadow: A group of edgy, black-clad "rough looking types".
- The Watchers For Tomorrow: All mages, she was sure of it! How unusual for a party of adventurers.
- Behold the Beholden: Elves, fresh out of the forest too. Hardly spoke a lick of Common. And their manners!
- The Eye of Aaldenbur: How many dwarfs do you even see out here, much less going off on adventures? Weird.
- Fable Gaze: Bards. FOUR BARDS. On an ADVENTURE! I bet they were kicked out the Strings, see if I'm wrong. Who heard of a bard going on his own adventure when you ought to record them?
The Half-Pint Shogun
Following the magic compass out of The Giving and into Rat's Nest, our four heroes found it. Only, it was underground. So they sought out a sewer grate and noticed that they were being watched by someone small on a bridge built between several apartment buildings. Utilizing Message, bribery, and friendliness, the party did not have to resort to the fastball special.
Instead, using a series of ropes and a gallon bucket, a tiny Halfling girl was lowered down to eye level with the human sized party members. She was very impressed with the mage and the samurai, especially the samurai. See, she and her pals had been playing Blades before the party showed up, and she donned her trash-made Blade helmet and a wooden katana from inside her bucket and exchanged information with her "fellow samurai". She told them about the monsters that lived in the sewers, and their pet rats, and how they were people with yellow eyes and how they definitely ate children for misbehaving, only they weren't afraid at all. Now several coins, a flower, and several new stories riches, the kids hauled her back up and scattered as one of their parents had arrived home.
Finale Part One
Enter sewers, fight dire rats, execute dire rats, realize they were somebody's pets, one got away... oh fuck. The party found themselves surrounded by crossbow-wielding strangers of all races, all with yellow eyes. Their leader pointed a scythe at them and demanded to know their purpose- it was the Artifact.
