The workings of the frigus coffin are unknown. They are brought to the Frozen Crypts by grey wardens and left for The Sisterhood of The Frozen Expanse. If any understand the workings of a frigus coffin it would be the Sisters of The Frozen Expanse, but if they do understand the arcane workings of a frigus coffin, they give no sign that they understand them.

Significance

Frigus Coffins are said to act as a bridge to the Celestial Expanse for those whose souls are bound more strongly to Everfall. The Sisterhood of The Frozen Expanse believe that to make the mortal body cold like the void of the sky helps the soul pass on to the afterlife. Others believe that a frigus coffin is merely part of the Rite of Freezing which appeases the wrath of Vroken The Wild Watcher.
