Woodlands of Nehalenor

The Valley of Nehalenor has a green and lush landscape.
Forests surrounded by mountain peaks disappearing into the clouds are divided by wide rivers and swift streams. The elves living here tried to preserve the ancient features of the motherland. According to their belief their goddess, Narmiraen, created their people, the Narmiron elves, to watch over her work. For them, it is more important than anything else to live in harmony with nature and keep the balance. Thus, the valley preserved its view for centuries.

The Pine Woods

What most outsiders think of the land of Nehalenor is only a small part of the forests. The dense pine forest along the southern borderland has been seen by some who have come too close to the home of the Narmiron elves.
Huge, dark-leaved pines grow here, which in some places are so dense, that they completely block the light of the sun. This view does not change with the seasons.
Birds and rodents live mainly in this forest. The largest animal the badger, hunts around the Swiftwater, where the pine forest blends into Bearrest's oak forest and the undergrowth thickens. The situation is similar on the opposite side of the Pine Woods, where beyond the Cascade River, the Foxwoods acacia forest and stony streambeds replace the dark forest. Many raccoons live in this area.
The Pine Woods is the home of the Inmar and the Lienathar tribes. Since the land is on the south border of the Valley, the Shemons, the border guards of Nehalenor, have a great impact on the forest.

The Bearrest

This vast mountainside and hilly oak forest lies on the southeastern border of Nehalenor. It is kept green by the streams of the Arbane Mountains that flow into the Swiftwater River or the crystal-clear mountain lakes. This forest is home to many wild boars, providing food for the brown bears living in the hillside caves. The waters are rich in fish and the branches of the bushes crumble under the weight of the berries from spring to early winter. This forest looks different in every season, and each one has its unique beauty. Spring brings green leaves, flowers, summer acorns, fruits, and berries, autumn paints all the trees in red, and then in winter, the forest goes to sleep under the snow. The Silhen tribe inhabits this area and the hunters often hibernate with their bear companions in the caves. After the Third Era, the eastern border became a peaceful place, without the fear of the Segai hordes, life has become slow and comfortable for those who live here.

The Deerrest

In the heart of the Valley of Nehalenor, there is a linden forest, which also hides the ancient orchard of Narmiraen. The woods are green from spring to autumn, but then its canopy turns yellow, almost like the Deerrest is merging with the Golden Glade.
This forest is rich in flowering plants and wild fruit trees and this is a home to many deer, wolves, and other animals as well.
Every year, the young Narmion elf hunters and their families gather in Narmiraen's orchard to celebrate Initiation Day and the two weeks of the Summer Festival of Lady Narmiraen.
The Samyr tribe welcomes the other tribe's hunters, who come to Deerrest with gifts specific to their homes. Besides the celebration and gift exchange, this is the biggest trade meeting between the tribes of Nehalenor, although barter is the typical commercial form. Deerrest is famous for its linden wine. Making wine from the linden flowers is a secret Samyr tradition.
The Thalas tribe lives on the border of the Deerrest and the Golden Glade.

The Foxwoods

This dense acacia forest at the feet of the Drauz Mountains is tangled with wild roses and rosehips. Between the mountains, the Green River, and the Cascade, its natural borders make it safe for forest dwellers. This is one of the most colorful regions of the Valley of Nehalenor. From spring to early winter, flowers bloom everywhere, then in autumn, the acacia trees turn yellow, orange, and red. Foxes, hares, birds, and small rodents live here and many herbs grow in this area. The Walon tribe lives at the hillside, watching over the Foxwoods and making excellent medicines for the people of Nehalenor.

The Willow Woods

At the confluence of the Green River and the Cascade, there is a floodplain where huge willow trees grow. The curtain of the green and golden twigs completely covers the elves living there, even in winter the foliage of the trees does not thin. Rainwater coming down from the border mountains can cause flash floods at any time of the year when the tree trunks are submerged.
Mainly waterfowl, songbirds, and reptiles live here, and they are hunted by the proud lynxes, which are the largest predators in the area.
The Aurr tribe lives in these woods, they are so used to living on the branches of willow trees that some of them do not touch the ground for years. Even in winter, they sleep in cocoons woven from the living twigs.

The Silver Glade

This forest is located between the shore of the Blackwater and the waters of the Green River.
This is a magical woodland, the only Serdophia forest on Utea. Serdophia has a slender trunk, branching high - 9-12ft. over the ground -, smooth silver bark, narrow and long silver leaves. Its leaves are so strong, that some Narmiron elves use them as arrow quills. Its small, white flowers are good for calming, sedative potions, even the smell of the flowers can calm tempers. The Serdophia tree has gray acorns that are extremely filling. The elves grind them into flour. It is a magical tree, a gift from the Goddess Narmiraen. Serdophia changes its leaves but keeps its silver canopy throughout the year.
The Silver Glade is home to many boars, deers, birds, and rodents. Black bears hunt in this part of the Valley.
In the south end, where the Serdophia forest merges with the Foxwoods acacia trees, is the home of the Arcori tribe. On the northwestern part of the beach of the Blackwater lives the Nath tribe.

The Golden Glade

The vast Pinera forest is the largest woodland in the Valley. These huge oak-like trees are sacred to all elves and the religion of Goddess Narmiraen. Only elves set their foot in this sacred wilderness ever. Like Serdophia trees, Pinera trees are magical plants, their foliage is golden all year round. They bloom with white flowers from early spring to mid-summer when the forest is loud with the hum of the bees and all kinds of insects.
The Golden Glade is a place of strong Natural magic home of fairies and magical creatures. This was the first place where Goddess Narmiraen created life. Some common animals live here too, but their numbers are small. Unicorns, brown earthcats are the most likely encounters.
On the shore of the Cascade, at the edge of the Golden Glade lives Evera's largest Pinera tree, the Tree of Life. This ancient giant is the place, where the capital of Nehalenor, Forestdeep is located. An entire Narmiron city was built on its branches. Forestdeep is no home of any tribe, but open to every Narmiron elves.
On the northeastern beach of the Blackwater lives the Lowren tribe.

The Timberlands

This hilly sparsely wooded area is east of Cascade, between the Deerrest, Pine Woods, and Bearrest. Mostly berry-bearing bushes, low shrubs, and wildflowers grow here.
The Timberlands are home to rodents, reptiles, and birds. Larger animals come here from the nearest woods sometimes.

The Riverside Plains

This hilly grassland lies between the Cascade, Green River, Foxwoods, and Willow Woods. Even the priestesses of Narmiraen cannot tell why, but no trees grow or survive in this place.
Most Narmiron elves avoid this region, but some lonely hunters and outcasts live here.

The Cascade

The Cascade originates from the Arbane Mountains and cuts through the Valley to the Blackwater ocean. This is the largest river in Nealenor. Its waters are gray, deep, and slow, the river itself is really wide, like on rainy days there is no way to see the other coast.
The Cascade is well suited for the transporting of goods by boat and raft and for fishing. Its wildlife is rich, and the fresh, large volume of water coming from the mountains prevents it from becoming swampy.

The Swiftwater

This fast river comes from the Arbane Mountains and its delta is located on the eastern beach of Nealenor. Its bed is rocky, divided by gurgles and waterfalls. Its water is so clear that you can see the riverbed and the jewels sparkling in the sunlight, which it carries with it from the mountains.
The most common fish are here the rainbow salmon.

The Green River

The Green River comes from the Drauz Mountains and splits into the Lower and the Upper Green River. The Lower part flows into the Blackwater, its delta located on the western shore of Nehalenor. The Upper River flows into the Cascade, near Forestdeep.
The river's water takes on a greenish color from the ores located in the deep of the Drauz Mountains. The color does not affect the quality of the water, it has no unpleasant smell or taste. Its wildlife is diverse, many reptiles live in there because the water is slightly warmer than the others in the Valley.
