In the 250th year of the Fourth Era, the ruler of the Kingdom of Vasanna, King Marcellus X., recruited an army to claim the ore and mineral-rich mountain regions of the Narmiron elves. According to their traditions, the tribes living there did not search for the treasures of the depths of the earth, did not cultivate mines in the mountains, and refrained from economic cooperation. Although the southern state was not generally characterized by the "What is not given with nicely, take by force" approach, after unsuccessful negotiation attempts, the Royal Council decided in favor of the campaign.

The preparation for occupying the Valley took more than ten years. After the assassination, pacifist and racist propaganda intensified in the kingdom. As a result of the former, part of the recruited army was disbanded, and others were transferred to other camps, or town guard and border guard duty. As a result of the latter, the rise of the country's most feared terrorist organization, the Black Arrow, began. Fortunately, those who feared Nehalenor's vengeance were ultimately disappointed: the Narmiron elves were content to deliver the message.
