The False Phoenix
(a.k.a. The Phoenix)
Until recently a regular young farm girl, she now claims to be Saint Iria, the Phoenix of the Dragon Wars, reborn. Attributing it to visions from the Gods, her dogma is that the church and the leaders has become decadent, and that radical reform is needed to return to the true path. She preaches a return to much more conservative values where people stick to their place, the church and nobility does not gather riches, and especially that burghers are not allowed to amass wealth outside their status. Additionally the phoenix cult are against opulence in general; music, dance, sex, art etc. People say that she can perform miracles, and she has gathered a large number of followers, throwing Teutoni first into a large-scale rebellion, and now into all out war.
In Alldris, however, information has surfaced that she is supported by the nebulous Society using her without her knowledge to unite Teutoni under a single state.
Relationships
History
Although basically leading figures for opposing sides in a civil war, Mercedes and the Phoenix did get along fairly well when Mercedes gave herself up as a hostage in return for the Phoenix using her healing powers to save Virginia Cindrii from near certain death from an infected gun wound.
