Lemuria
Demographics
Unusually, Lemuria has quite a sparse Human population, when compared to the rest of the Empire, the Capitals in specific. The majority of those who live there are Human, as are those who hold the seats of power, however, there is a lot of diversity within the city. This is due to it being quite the tourist destination, functioning much like a city-wide red-light district. The majority of the other races that inhabit the city are Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, and Gnomes. Even some Yuan-Ti have been known to take residence there, despite them being even more recluse than the Elves.
Government
As it is the Capital of the Hyacinth Province, the city of Lemuria is governed directly by the ruling High Lord, Vincent Carlyle. The organisations within the city that also affect its working are prominent entertainment service-providers, transport managers, and luxury goods traders.
Defences
Hyacinth is the only province aside from Edelweiss not to share a border with either another nation or No Man's Land. Because of this, it has never needed many defences. Even the portion of it that hugs the coast is well-protected by the Amaryllis Province. The guard force is not very large but, due to Lemuria being the capital, it is at least better than the rest of the Province. The guards keep order within the city but are not so harsh on enforcement of the already lax laws.
Industry & Trade
Lemuria is incredibly wealthy, primarily due to its luxury exports. The highest quality alcohol and drugs can only be found in Lemuria, something considered a fact by all in the Empire and even beyond it. The alcohol production is particularly well-known and has been the primary export from the city. The different families that produce the different drinks hold almost as much sway in the running of the city as the High Lord, helped in part by Carlyle himself holding one of the most well-loved wineries in the whole Province.
Infrastructure
The City is most well known for the massive distilleries that are scattered about. These, along with some of the greatest inns and entertainment halls in the Empire, provide those within the city with no shortage of pleasurable
Guilds and Factions
Some of the more notable brewing families responsible for all the alcohol in the city are as follows:
The wine and brandy families are Carlyle, Watson, Moore, and Dixon.
The families responsible for beer, ale, vodka, and whiskey are Pearce, Stone, Reynolds, Barker, and Graham.
The few orchard families who make the cider are Bradley and Bell.
And those who import rare goods to produce the finest of rum, gin, vermouth, and some of the more expensive port wines and brandies, are Carlyle, Harper, Quinn, Grayson, and Holmes.
