High Lord Dorian Lytton

High Lord Dorian Russ Lytton (a.k.a. The Black Wolf)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

High Lord Dorian Lytton was born in the middle of The Great War, with his father, Leman Lytton, away fighting more than he was at home. He heard nothing but tales of glory to be won in battle throughout his childhood and always looked up to his father, hence. Leman Lytton spent what little time he had with his son training him in combat and teaching him to respect the traditions of his ancestors with fervour. Dorian has thusly become very attached to these ways and holds them in high regard, as a High Lord himself. Leman Lytton fell in battle during the Great War, leaving a final note to his son reminding him that this was the way he always wanted to go, defending his people to the last. Dorian then took over the Valerian Province a few years later, having trained endlessly to live up to his father's name. He fought in the Great War alongside his soldiers and forged bonds with many along his path. When the Peace-Treaty was signed, Dorian had still not found the army that had brought about his father's demise but, understanding the futility of wasting such a beneficial opportunity for the Empire, he ended the hunt. While many outsiders thought the reason behind the hunt to be vengeance, those in the Adamantite Guard know the true purpose: Dorian simply wishes to face the same foe his father fell to and see if he can fare better against the challenge; it is the final step to being sure he has surpassed his father and made him proud.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Dorian Lytton earned his name "The Balck Wolf" from one profound military achievement at the Battle of Blackmarsh Hill. He thrust himself into the fray of the battle as his men were faltering, without a care for the dangers of the swamp through which he ran. His armour shattered, he took only his twin axes to the front lines against the Khaganate advance so that his men could escape back to fortifications and call for reinforcements. Valerian Warriors were always well known for their strong connection with one another, but they reluctantly ran, leaving their High Lord to die for the sake of the Valerian people. When they returned with the garrison, however, all they could hear was the screams of countless Bezhatin soldiers and a bloodcurdling howl. Soon after, their High Lord returned from the swamp, covered in blood and pitch-black swamp mud. He simply ordered for a volley to be shot beyond the treeline to pick off any survivors.

Intellectual Characteristics

Dorian Lytton is an incredibly stubborn man. He values strength and willpower above all. He is a renowned combatant, but he is aware of his weaknesses in tactics and often relies on his commanders to ensure a plan will come to fruition. This sense of trust between him and his subordinates makes them appear almost as comrades to an ignorant onlooker and it has earned him the undying faith of the Valerian People.

Morality & Philosophy

He believes in a benevolent form of "survival of the fittest". He believes that only those who can prove their ability should have the right to take on a task if someone else's well-being is at stake.
