Solar Tree Sap

Part of being sustainable in a colony is not only generating power, but being able to reliably store it. The Generation of the power can be done through bio-engineered plants which are grown in an orchard for solar electricity. Storage of that power is done through refining of the trees sap.

The Refining process is simple, and can be done with basic materials and tools.

Oyas of Power

Creating battiers out of the Solar Tree Sap first requires a durable container. Due to the somewhat acidic nature of the sap, soft containers or plastic containers are not recommended. Clay, Steel, or treated wood can all be used as a container. Once a container is made, a tap can be fashioned to siphon tree sap into the Oya.

In order to enable large scale storage, the sap will need to be treated with an acidic base such as Citric acid. Once the Acid is mixed in with the sap, the Oya will be able to contain enough voltage to power lights and smaller appliances. Higher voltage can be achieved by wiring Sap Oya's together into banks.

Green Energy, literally.

Solar Tree Sap is a popular solution for colonists or expeditions that need to have a long term solution for power that requires low maintence and knowledge. If you can farm, you can generate electricity.

When the sap is harvested from the tree via a tap, it comes out as a viscious green liquid that smells of lavendar and acid. The sticky reason can cause skin irritation if left for too long, and should not be ingested as it can cause cramps and stomach pains.

One part lemon juice, one quart of sap, and a clay pot with two holes drilled into the top is all you need to keep your home lit and habitable all year round!

There is just something magical about "bioengineering" and plant based energy. I don't know what it is though. Was a nice read, although a question popped up. If I mouse over the paragraphs a little number is displayed. This happened in only one other world so far.   Knowing you, that is intended or a technical necessity, but care to explain in one sentence or two? Please? I could humbly offer nothing in return, except being honest about it :D
