Bela the Prehensile Rope

Nikko inherited this unique Prehensile Rope at age thirteen from his great uncle and namesake, who died shortly after bestowing it upon him. Uncle Nikkel worked on chimera for Abominable Labs, which explains why this rope, Bela, has features which other prehensile ropes do not.

Bela has helped Nikko through the darkest moments of his life, both physically and emotionally. He considers Bela to be his oldest friend.

In his youth, Nikko was adventurous and his parents were grateful for his Uncle's gift as an opportunity for the boy to learn some responsibility as well as an additional 'pair of hands' to keep the boy safe. He spent the rest of his childhood with Bela coiled around his tail until he was big enough to carry the pouch in which Bela lived.

When Nikko was 19, the pair were out hunting one early morning. The sun hadn't yet crested the horizon when Nikko realized he was being hunted. Through the canopy he spotted several pairs of green eyes stalking closer, and he ran. They flushed him out of the forest and over the canyon's edge... Nikko barely opened his pouch in time, but Bela was able to catch the ledge and save them. That is why he NEVER latches Bela's pouch. In fact, upon close inspection, Bela's pouch no longer has a latching mechanism at all. It was ripped off and patched over.

There have been many times where Nikko has skipped meals to make sure Bela remains healthy, and he has never regretted those stomach grumbling nights. It has only strengthened the bond between the two.

In a few months time, Nikko and Bela will celebrate 15 years of friendship.

Proficiencies

Hunting

Bela is trained to aid in hunting by way of lasso and constriction to hold the prey in place so Nikko can make a clean kill.

Interrogation

Bela knows correct pressure to apply to the esophagus so as not to permanently damage, but reduce or cut off air flow to the subject.

Climbing

Bela's primary purpose. Bela can extend up to twenty feet and support up to 400 pounds.

Enigma

Is Bela Sentient?: Ropes aren't known to be, but Nikkelandro seems convinced that Uncle Nikkel's tampering produced a clever rope.

How long will Bela live? It has already long outlived other ropes, and doesn't seem to show many signs of age. Perhaps it will be a lifelong friend.
