Vermillion Flats

[History]

The town of Vermillion Flats is without question the largest producer and exporter of tea and coffee in Espen. The flats are only able to boast such impressive commerce due to the rare nature of the Vermillion Flower. Growing from the vermillion tea tree, the flowers that bloom twice a year have the ability to cross-pollinate with over 200 species of trees and flowers. Due to this rare trait the unique flower that blooms a crimson red and burnt orange can be across much of central Espen, as far east as Spritzlewerks , and as far north as The Whitefields.   Vermillion Flats sits just west of Evolir, and has forged a strong bond with its patron city. A bulk of their coffee and tea exports go directly to the elder families in Evolir for rituals or commerce. This has led to many of the families being considered "elder" by extension as the addictive nature of both the Vermillion Tea and Vermillion Coffee exports have given the farmers in Vermillion Flats a surprising amount of leverage over Evolir.   Never pressing their advantage to the point of aggression the two eldest families have been invited to both the Viridescent Gala and the Haute and Bespoke Fashion and Baking Show - HaBFab in recent years showing their increasing cultural relevance through Espen.

Locations:

The general supplies that are available at the Daily Grind Supply Co are exclusively related to keeping the town's coffee and tea industry moving. From both the growing and harvesting to the production and brewing of their famed beverages, nearly every citizen of Vermillion Flats is familiar with JJ Cupping's store which has been a staple of the town for over 300 years.   The Black Bean is a local favorite known more for its drinks than its fare. The Black Bean's owner, Mac Chiato, a well-cafinated barkeep has a mastery of both tea and coffee beverages. And while he is convinced that he makes perfectly serviceable meals, his kitchen, which is a mess of coffee grounds and aging tea leaves finds a way to permeate every meal leaving it slightly bitter. This may be why the city's largest import is sugar.   Black Ward Lodging II is the second site under Cordelia Ward, a resident of Mithrigal. She's entrusted her former assistant manager Gal Farebreak a dwarf with an impressive entrepreneurial streak. Gal has been entrusted with the Black Ward name despite not being a member of the family. However, she runs a clean inn and thus far has represented the Ward family well.
