Saihaku Mountains

The Saihaku Mountains (西白山脈) is a mountain range in the northwest of Auslon. With only a 50 km gap between the eastern most slopes of the Saihaku Mountains and the western slopes of the Tōhaku Mountains, the two combined are sometimes called the Daihaku Mountains, as they together form the longest chain on the continent.   Being particularly young and volcanically active, they feature some of the highest peaks in Auslon. They are rich in various metals, particularly tin, lead, gold, and silver as well as many types of gemstones. Despite the vast mineral wealth of the region, the frigid climate is not hospitable and most mines and quarries are run on slave and prison labor.   In the First Age, various Kakusō peoples lived on both sides of the mountains and in the numerous hotspring valleys of the mountains themselves.
