Boreal-Lurin Bazaar

The Boreal-Lurin Bazaar is a roving caravan not unlike The Grand Caravan of Bhutaar. However this loose collection of Djinn run caravans are known to appear almost from nowhere, bringing strange goods to trade to the far corners of Erolan. They often make berth somehwhere deep in the Black Sea desert, but easily spend nearly the whole year travelling by hidden roads.
The Caravan is made up almost entirely of Djinn though some folk of other races have either married into the caravan or through adoption have become part of it. Ruled by the two great families Boreal and Lurin the Djinn travel restlessly in search of new things and new people with which to barter and trade with. They have famously profitable trade routes with the Shire of Barleybuck, Harhhorne, Il Paraonde, and the Grand Caravan of Bhuutar, and a close alliance with the Sultanate of Sahir.
The Bazaar itself is made up of numerous caravans operated by many different families. Each Caravan has its own unique trade or craft and the responsibility of running it is passed down through the generations. The pride each family takes in their own caravans has created an atmosphere of friendly rivalry. The Caravans are spread throughout the world but come together once a year in September to create a hub of color, sound and culture. It has become a celebration known the world over and has been held on the borders of the Kingdom of Il Paraonde and Barleybuck almost since its forming.
The Great Separation was a dispute caused over some of the caravans wanting to settle, abandoning their nomadic lifestyle. A large number of families split from the caravans causing grudges between those that settled down in the Sultanate of Sahir and those that remained true to the everlasting journey. Some of the caravans started to move further north while others continued on in and around the deserts. The grudge this caused has evolved over the centuries, now forming a friendly competitive nature where citizens of the Bazaar see the folk of Sahir as "town-folk", and Sahirians reciprocating by seeing the citizens of the Bazaar as "rural-folk".
Much like their cousins of the Sultanate of Sahir, citizens of the Boreal-Lurin Bazaar carry those that die on the road with them, cremated in special funerary urns, until they can be returned to the earth deep within the Black Sea. The legend of the Blackened Jewel centers around the an ancient ancestral urn being lost. Djinn of the Bazaar who search for it believe they cannot rest until they find the urn, so that it can travel again with the caravans. In its place the Djinn fashioned a smaller black urn that is given to the winner of the yearly festival chosen at The Grand Carnival.
Members of the Bazaar primarily worship Brume, being a culture made up almost enirely of Djinn, though other faiths are tolerated. They belive Brume keeps them safe amongst the dunes, and shields their hidden roads from prying eyes and from raiders. While not religious beliefs, many members of the Bazaar are superstitous, and a common belief amongst the Bazaar is that a Wishlings third eye contains a true sight, making it cursed bad lack to lie to a wishling. Similarly, they believe that getting permission to rub a bobbins head will bring good luck.
The Caravan of Boreal-Lurin, namesake caravan of the Bazaar, is one of the longest running caravans in the Bazaar. Some of the most talented merchants who have ever lived came from this Caravan. Known for having the quickest wit and the most pleasant demeanor that even a Bobbin would be jealous of, if there weren’t so many bobbins traveling with them. When the Great Separation occurred, they kept the caravans in running order, establishing the Grand Carnaval with the help of Barleybuck. With the Carnaval established they reinstituted the competition among the caravans bringing them back into greatness.
In the early weeks of the Spring of 1024, the djinn of the Boreal-Lurin Bazaar were set upon by the kaijin that spilled out of the lands of Harshorne. Never ones for open warfare, the peoples of the Boreal-Lurin bazaar were forced to retreat using old magics. Worshippers of Brume, the Goddess of shadows and secrets, the djinn of Boreal-Lurin have long used her blessings to disappear when under threat.
Their people followed the high priests into inky portals of shadow, and disappeared from the land almost entirely. Since the attacks, they have only rarely come out into the light to make contact, mostly with their cousins in the Sultanate of Sahir. They now say that no place is truly safe, and that they are now forced to prioritize defending themselves in the place most familiar to them, the land of shadows.
9/1024 - The traveling Djinn of Boreal-Lurin have only occasionally appeared from the hidden pathways through the realm of shadows over the past few months. Primarily speaking to their cousins in Sahir, the agents of the Bazaar report their travels through the shadowy land of the Penumbra has not been without incident. The djinn are significantly better trained to face the predators of the realm of shadows than they are a horde of kaijin however, and still deem it safer to travel by their old magics. They do report that they have noticed the shadowy creatures that dwell within the penumbra seem to be on the move, abandoning old haunts and answering some far off call to gather.
Cultural Dress
Those from the Boreal-Lurin Bazaar dress very exotic yet practical for the desert in which they spend most of their travels through. Think fancy silks and linens materials sewn into baggy breathable shirts and pants.
