The Kingdom of Il Paraonde is the largest collection of cities on the western coast of Erolan. Il Paraonde is one of the dominant naval powers on the western coast, rivaled only by the White Cloud Republic. Fleets of merchant vessels, vessels for diplomatic envoys, and their impressive armada are constantly moving back and forth out of the various docks that mark the coastline. The main port also has a dock specifically for the White Cloud Republic, to continue to court the rival fleets of this trade competitor. This dock is where the ships headed to the Terra Nova are docked, and where those who are traveling to the new frontier will gather before setting sail.   The Kingdom itself is run by a council of wealthy merchants whose main concern is the health, wealth, and safety of the kingdom and all its citizens. The wealth and prosperity of the city has birthed some of the most accomplished and respected schools on the continent. These schools range from music and the arts to diplomacy and business. As such, many travel from around the world to learn at these schools and to enjoy the rich and diverse cultural atmosphere the port kingdom attracts. It is the kingdom where dreams come true, and where a person can come with nothing and become rich. After signing on to the Pact of Unified Expansion, they have gathered together with the fleets of the White Cloud Republic and Alfheimr to contiously transport goods and personel to Terra Nova.   The Kingdom is ruled by a Council of Merchant Lords, seven representatives who are elected by the various confederated merchant lords. Il Paraonde is one of the most culturally diverse kingdoms on Erolan. It holds treaties and trade agreements with almost every kingdom on the Western Continent. They possess the means to travel to the East Continent, as well as the sea charts and coordinates.   Long after its own secession from Kingdom of Zenith , Il Paronde had to deal with its own rebellious vassals, as the White Cloud Islands rebelled under the command of the various Admirals and Pirate Lords who made those islands their home. The White Cloud Rebellion lasted for several years, before one Admiral Porthos of the Good Fleet Profit, was able to negotiate a cesation of hostilities and the independance of the newly formed White Cloud Republic.   In the early weeks of the Spring of 1024, the merchant states of Il Paraonde have been gripped by a strange plague. It began in several of the coastal ports, the people there beginning to speak in multiple differing languages. The languages they speak seem unknown to them, and the inability to communicate has caused immediate disruption. Before long, apothecaries and healers deduced that the plague was spreading along the ports and trade routes, and the plague was tied to small trinkets found in the possession of the infected.   According to what little information they could gather from the victims and those near them, as well as information gathered by the Sultanate of Sahir, the objects were purchased from the same traveling merchant. Now the hunt is on to locate this man and his cursed goods, as well as working day and night to fix the disruptions caused by this strange curse, dubbed by apothecaries and healers as “the Gibbering Plague”.   Il Paraonde has also received word that the Kingdom of Pheia is in desperate need of aid, and is attempting to gather naval and humanitarian support, with efforts being disrupted by this plague. All this compounded with a sudden increase with attacks from sea faring monstrosities, making any progress towards sending aid to their neighbors a painfully slow process.   9/1024 - With aid from the Magocracy of Valsan, a cure for the Gibbering Plague that sickens the western coast has been discovered. Requiring several rare magical ingredients, it is an intensive process and slow to deploy to the afflicted masses, but progress is being made. This has freed Il Paradone to focus on its physical threats to safety, namely the fomorian attacks from the Eternalwoad, and the attacks of deep sea monstrosities coming up the coast from Pheia. The fomorian attacks have been pushed back to the borders with aid from the Bhutaarian patrols in the area, much to the thanks of the northern territories.   This left Il Paraonde in the odd position of aiding the White Cloud Republic, their one time vassals, in the coordination of military and material aid south to Pheia in all haste. With the Sultanate of Sahir pledging their own navy as well, a joint Armada has sailed south with the intent to bring relief to the beleaguered Pheians. Several stable routes have been cut through the territory of the shark-fae of She-who-drowns, allowing for desperately needed supplies to get to the people of Pheia. Time will tell if this alliance that contains the White Cloud will last long enough to bring lasting aid to Pheia, or if old animosities will bring the venture to an early end.
Cultural Dress   The Kingdom of Il Paraonde is a tropical paradise where its citizen’s dress in bright flowing garments. Many of the cultural dress from around the many different kingdoms can be found here but with the flair and bright coloring that Il Paraonde is known for. Those who become sailors dress more utilitarian, tough leather boots, and sturdy jerkins to resist wear and tear on the move.
