Black Tears

Black Tears is a mysterious woman with an unknown origin who leads a group of assassins that came to Ethaesca in search of their targets, which puts her and her group on the hunt for Sabira Atlasi, after horrifically murdering the girl's parents. Her motives for hunting down Sabira are seemingly personal, despite openly claiming that she has never met, nor has any tie to Sabira herself. While she is not enhanced by the Ley, she still appears to wield some unexplained abilities which may be a cause for concern by R.I.S.E. should they catch wind of her existence. Her small unit of assassins are highly trained, as they were able to eliminate a large group of soldiers from the war crazed nation of Uxager fairly easily with only mild effort. Each of the assassins seem to bear names equally as ominous as Black Tears herself, and don't seem to get along well, though each appear to revere Black Tears in a manner more than just a simple unit commander.

Powers

Black Tears is unenhanced by the Ley, yet appears to wield abilities which would belong to someone who has been, or at the very least given a single special power by the hero Gifthorse. This is, however, not the case and determination of the origin of her abilities may become a difficult challenge for those who investigate.

She has exhibited the ability to alter small, localized sections of reality within her field of view through the manipulation of shadows. These shadows can take physical form to enshroud the landscape within the area of effect and reshape the structure of it to her will, allowing her to create chasms, cliffs, walls, structures, forests and more from the eerie, mystical essence of darkness, which will remain how she recreates it after she ceases using her ability. However, what is left behind is usually a twisted, nightmarish waste of what it was before, with affected soil taking a dark ash grey hue, trees that weren't willed out of existence becoming black, dead husks, and water or other liquids becoming tainted by some supernatural blight. This effect does not appear to be capable of encompassing people or animals, but the ability to reshape her surroundings quickly can allow her to wield it as a weapon, which some of her victims have learned the hard way. However, using the shadows to strike a killing blow against a foe will cause her eyes to produce an oily, black substance which runs down her face as if she were crying, and thus likely how she earned her odd moniker. The strange tears also seem to have a physically painful effect on her, which is only relieved by a small vial of some type of antidote or painkiller which she keeps in hand at all times.
