Eris

Eris is the name for the continent upon which the Eris campaigns and Chronicles are based. it is a massive 2,859 mile long landmass that houses the lands of Lentumia, Cortia, Ilthar, Karnath-Ol, Retra, The Floating Islands, The Underground and the northwestern orphan island known as The Darklands.

Eris was formed as a result of the magical cataclysm in following the The Slaying of the Fimbrilisk. The cataclysm caused numerous shifts in both the shape of the world and the laws under which it operates. Namely, Eris' system of Magic, allowing it to be shaped by humanoid and machine alike.

Eris' waters are surrounded by a mysterious fog known as The Gilded Cage which seems to cause the disappearance of any and all who dare to explore in search of other lands. The fog appears to block any sort of magical means of transportation through it. The fog is referred to as "The Gilded Cage" as the sunlight often causes the fog to appear an warm yellow, and reports from sailors washed up from failed journeys into the fog often refer to it as "sailing straight into the Heavens."

Despite Eris' physical separation from other continents, it often lays host to interlopers from the other Planes; a lingering result of the interference by The Gods in ages past, and the cause of a lot of problems occurring within the world itself

Geography

Eris is Surrounded by a singular, Unnamed Ocean. the Ocean expands for roughly 830 miles off the coast before opening up to The Gilded Cage. Nothing is known about the Oceans beyond this distance, as no journey has ever sailed beyond the Cage and returned. Within the waters of Eris exist a number of Reefs and underwater societies, though many are often left unrecorded on maps due to their nomadic and hostile nature under the tides.

The mainland is split, politically, into five major Regions. Each of these regions hosts different geography that has been shaped by both climate and its inhabitants.Below is a list of each of the major regions of Eris:

Within and around these regions exist various significant locations and features, many of which are core elements to the mythos of Eris itself.

Fauna & Flora

Eris is host to a diverse ecosystem of Humanoids, wildlife, plantlife and monsters. Of note are some of the following:

Natural Resources

Eris has a host of Natural Resources Across, and below its landscape. Of note are some of its more Unique resources not found in other planes:

Orichalcum

Orichalcum is the name given to the Glistening white stone located in large tendrils deep in the underground, and in the Floating Islands. Orichalcum is Noted for its complete impenetrability to any kind of damage, magic or physical, as well as its ability to simply absorb magic cast upon it. Due to its astronomical hardness, little is known about the Material's properties, though it is believed to be connected to the legend of The World Tree

Blackblood Ore

Blackblood Ore is the name given to the iron used in the construction of Cold Iron weapons. It is named due to the viscous, toxic black fluid that appears to "bleed" from the ore if deformed. Blackblood Ore is highly valued among Fey hunters, and is believed to have been given its unique properties as a result of an ancient pact against a Fey king.

Magicite

Magic is the name given to a special particle located all throughout the world, however often times certain phenomena cause said particle to heavily impregnate another material, causing it to take on special properties, among these include Pools of purified water and Crystal formations usually referred to as Magicite. The result is a series of strange and magically significant locations that appear to Generate and utilize mana despite the lack of any apparent lifeforms to do so.
