Mage Glass
Mage Glass is the most important commodity of Armeria Maritima and an important product for Ushann.
Ameria Maritima, or Mari as the locals call it, is the only Ushann town built on a seashore. The soft, powdery sand is unlike any other on the coastline drew people to settle there, and they soon discovered the quartz sand was perfect for making glass. Over the years the Ushanni living in Mari developed crafting techniques and refined their artistry.
The first greenhouse was built in Mari, allowing them to grow year round. This innovation swept quickly across Ushann and moved Mari from the least important town to the most powerful one.
Discovery
Over time the glassmakers in Mari's Diphylleia Family began to use their Gifts to assist in the crafting. As they moved away from classic methods to entirely magical ones, the Diphylleias noticed that the glass created solely with Elemental Magic absorbed some of its properties, becoming stronger and less susceptible to weather. The crafting process has been kept entirely secret, and some believe the Mari sand is part of the equation.Application
Mage Glass is mostly crafted with the Flat Glass technique for use as greenhouse plates and window panes. It is highly sought after by the Marquesses and hopeful candidates for their flower greenhouses. The giant greenhouse at The Garden is made entirely with Mage Glass. Mage Glass can also be blown and is sometimes special ordered by religious orders for various purposes.
