Elves

The longlived and eternally beautiful, fae folk of Erath. Elves are beleived to be mortal descendants of the eternal Eladrin that journeyd to Erath from the Dreaming lands. They have scince split into diverse subgroups that differ physically and culturally. The most notible of these groups are the High Elves, Wood Elves, and the Drow. High Elves and Wood elves can be found in most places in the world and the Drow live almost exclusively in the Deep Vaults. At one point elves held a vast empire but now they call the forested nation of Sylvanar thier ancestral home. Additionally, elves are the longest lived of the mortal races on Erath. Its quite unclear how long an elf can live, but it is said they maintain a youthfull appearence past the point of death. Thier face exhibit angular but delicate features, they stand between five and six feet tall, they have flawless skin, and vibrant eyes. Elves do not consider themselves adults until around thier first century. In temprement they typically exhibit great temprene nad act with prudence and seem slow to anger. Because of this most would mistake the elves as unfeeling but he truth is they must spend a great deal of time learning to regulate thier emotions because they feel them very deeply. Once an elven nation has be roused to war they will fight with every fiber of thier bieng and the rage of centuries to ensure every slight is paid back in full.

Common Taboos

It is not completely looked down upon but it is a point of contention for an elf to engage in a romantic relationship with another race. Not for any racist or superiority complex but because when a elf enters into a romantic relationship they give themselves complety and emtionally to it. They expect the breadth of emotion they share freely with their partner to be resiprocated and it is hard for anyone other than an elf to do so. Additionally, the depth of sarrow and elf experiences when a love one departs is substantial and more so when it involves a human. Imagine if you would witnessing your most cherished loved one withering and dying at an alarming rate right before your very eyes and you might come close to the dispair an elf feels.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

To the elves other race seem in such a rush and act too rashly. They apear impetuous and are viewed almost like addolescents. On the whole however elves seem to get along with most other races save for the orcs who the dispise and loath. Additionally the High Elves and Wood Elves have a particularly acute disdain for the Drow. They maintain a rivalry with the dwarves and vew humans as entertaining. On occasion the appearence of an elf will enrapture a human and the human's charm will prove irrasistable an a half-elf will be the result. Unfortunately many of these relationships are ddomed to be a romantic tradgedy as the elf partner will far outlive the human one.
