Wood Elves

Wood elves or Celdari in thier native tongue, make thier home in the deep forest of Erath. They live mostly in secluded and well hidden sancutaries within the forest that can rarely be found by outsiders. They often build homes and huts in the bows of great trees or burrows in hillsides and under lard roots. Though the word hut is often used, thier dwellings are much more of an elegent afair. The structures are seemingliy grown out of trees through magic and artfully design though somewhat small in size and connected by a series of living vine bridges that are incredibly sturdy. Wood elves prefer to use exhisting structures of trees and burroghs as to not infringe on nature as little as possible. They hold great respect and reverence for nature and hold Cenurros in high esteme.   Wood Elves stand about four and a half to five feet tall with lean muscular builds. They can see in shades of grey in the dark and are quite light and quick on thier feet. Thier skin ranges in tones of deep tans to earthen browns. Thier eyes are often hazel, vergant greens, or shades of topaz. Thier hair is thick and dark brown and black with sometimes a hint of green or auburn. Acompaying the typical elven beauty and angular features, wood elves have developed some unique physical traits. Either due to thier deep connection with nature or in born knack for druidic magics, wood elves exhibit phisical traits of an animalistic quality. This can manifest in cat-like or lupine eyes; sharpened insisors and canines; increased hair growth on the forearms, chest, or sideburns; and even antler like growths forming from thier heads. They garb themselves in leather taken from hunted animals that is well made and handstiched and accented with deep green woolen cloth and cloaks. The rarely use metal save for weapons and perhaps some armor, instead they opt to use magically treated Darkwood as a substitute.

Culture

Funerary and Memorial customs

At the center of every wood elven settlement is a large ancient tree with mounds near it and cavernous space below. It is here where the wood elves bury thier dead. When one of the Celdari fianlly dies, all thier items including thier clothes are redistributed to the community and then they are lain to rest in fresh earth in one of the mounds or benath the tree. When they are burried, it is without casket or clothing. As the body decomposes it provides nutrients and magic essence to the surrounding vegitation. In this way they can provide for thier community and give back to nature even after thier spirits depart.

Common Taboos

It is forbidden within Celdari culture to hunt for sport and glory. Such an offense will result in the individual being exiled.
