The Scythian Mask of Jal-Kador

"Just a mask? It is a piece of our past, and perhaps of our future...Of course, a jaw-dragging peon such as yourself cannot understand its power, or its purpose. My research, on the other hand, suggests that it was made to save us all." ~ Malgias Prythain, overheard during a debate with his peers at the Rare Chant alehouse in Tourelle

An artifact of the Age of Terror. Said to have been crafted by the dwindling Firstfolk, as many of their own number were consumed or destroyed by the rampant cults serving the extraplanar beings that invaded the world of Eramon during that dark age.

The Firstfolk scientist and sage known as Vincefeldt crafted the Mask as some sort of defensive measure, but it is said that it was either disassembled as soon as it was completed or that it was never assembled at all. Split into several pieces, the Mask was scattered across the world and became a subject of occasional rumour and arcane interest throughout the centuries since the Age of Terror faded.

It is rumoured that the pieces of the Mask were eventually melted down for their arcane properties and reconstructed into several 'false masks' or, as termed by scholar Malgias Prythain, 'Simulacra of Jal-Kador'. The current whereabouts, appearance, and even number of the simulacra are currently unknown, but one has thusfar re-emerged; the Emerald Simulacra was discovered to be guarded in a subterranean temple by the Tolohi tribe of Firbolgs in Ezzuth...
