Cult of Quelakki

The Cult of Quelakki is the organization following the godlike entity calling himself Quelakki located on Struka of the Vortex System. They have been a plague upon many worlds, responsible for numerous acts of terror and violence for the sake of appeasing their master.

Structure

Quelakki

Quelakki is the supreme ruler of the Cult. His word is to be followed exactly and strictly. Failure to do so could result in expulsion from the cult, if not outright torture into execution.

Ascendant

Ascendants are the privileged elite of the cult. Blood samples taken directly from Quelakki's exposed, beating heart are transfused directly into a Warlock's body when they're chosen to become an Ascendant; granting them supernatural strength, speed, intellect, and psionic power. Ascendants act as the hands of Quelakki and perfectly exemplify his tenants. To refuse their orders is to refuse an order given from Quelakki himself.

Warlock

Warlocks are the general leaders, preachers, and taskmasters of the cult. They often manage entire "churches" within the cult, containing anywhere from hundreds to thousands of cultists.

Zealot

Zealots act as assistant leaders for Warlocks, and typically manage smaller groups within larger churches.

Devotee

Devotees make up the bulk of the cult, essentially fulfilling gruntwork and menial tasks.

Neophyte

Neophytes are the initiates of the cult, usually stuck with the worst, most dangerous jobs that need to be fulfilled.

Culture

The cult is both chaotic and organized at the same time... members are free to pursue any goal they please, provided the goal does not directly threaten the cult or go against its tenants. Warlocks and Ascendants may manage and treat their underlings however they see fit. Quelakki himself rarely gets involved with micromanaging his members... However, once an order from Quelakki is given: everyone gets involved however they can. This gives the cult a very deceptive appearance as a barely organized mess of men killing each other; but at the flip of a switch this chaos may be turned into a destructive force.

Public Agenda

The cult's sole, unabashed purpose is to serve Quelakki; whatever his tasks may be.

Assets

The cult is rather poor as far as major organizations go; scraping together what equipment, vehicles, and ships they can from various raid targets. Their manpower, while high, consists mostly of untrained individuals spread thin across many planets in hidden cells.

History

The cult formed shortly after the discovery and transportation of Quelakki to Military Fortress #5 on the southern pole of Struka. From this nigh-impregnable defensive installation, Quelakki emitted a shock wave of psychic energy that killed hundreds of people within the base and simply mind controlled the rest; while permanently destabilizing the psyche of millions across the rest of the Vortex System. This led to the formation of the cult spread across the planet in small, isolated pockets. His influence would spread further than that, however, as his agents would board the various passenger and military ships bound for the Terran System; completely unaware of who were under his influence.

Worship

  • Communion with Warlock to establish goals
  • Worship through service
  • Flagellation and self-torture or torture of others
  • Engaging in other highly emotional practices

Priesthood

Ascendants

Ascendants are considered the "high Priests" of the cult. They have the blood of Quelakki flowing through them, as well as the greatest amount of power allotted to them by Quelakki. There are only a few of these, usually one being appointed to each planet to oversee operations and manage cells. An ascendant may be identified by their immense and sinister psionic aura, seeming to have an intimidating presence at all time. They typically wear unique signifying regalia and apparel, distinct to their individual abilities and the role they are assigned to.

To become an ascendant, one must show exceptional capabilities as a Warlock as well as a true, pure devotion to Quelakki and his cause; and a willingness to do anything in his name.

Warlocks

Warlocks take the form of local flock leaders and organizers; as well as powerful psionic casters. They do the majority of the small-scale planning and tactical decision-making of the cult. They can typically be recognized at cult gatherings by their distinct hooded robes, simply a black robe with a red band of fabric draped across the shoulders.
