Ug Gandr
Ug Gandr was the first god of the sun and beauty. He was one of the gods of the First Pantheon and is often depicted as the favourite "son" of Ragdafuria, goddess of order , though his chaotic nature and whims sometimes would have gone against his mother's teachings. Though his domain encompasses powerful features, Ug Gandr is only rarely venerated in Epliström, except by a few artist groups, as his power is said to have "fizzled out" after the merging of the The first Higher Ones and the First Pantheon, and as such what little is known about him is greatly embellished in artwork and text.
In his beginnings, it is said Ug Gandr was born as the brightest light the universe has ever seen, a light that encompassed every imaginable colour at once, and whose aspect one cannot begin to describe. Immediately after, instead of meeting with his fellow god kin, the god of beauty began his life of hedonism and creation. Without rule, anarchically, he created most natural things that are known as objectively beautiful even today. Noticing his brother out of control, Effneki , the god of Knowledge and leader of the newly found pantheon decided to pay Ug Gandr a visit. Most historical texts agree that the Sun god received his brother with such an extravagant welcome that the latter did not leave the welcome party for centuries. This solidified the friendship between the two, Effneki helping direct his brother's chaotic creations of beauty while Ug Gandr would counsel him and try to create paradise for his kin. The excessive usage of this power at the very beginnings of the universe as we know it might have been the cause for the "fizzling out" that most critics speak of when they mention the rarity of clerics of Ug Gandr.
However, when the time for war came, Ug Gandr despite or maybe even because of his naive and unknowing nature, decided to fight. And fight he did. Most Historians agree that he was the first to join the melee against The first Higher Ones , laying ravage to their ranks with his blinding light, akin to a white flame dancing in battle, unknowing of his brother Effneki's plans of a suicidal war. And it is also his recklessness that was his undoing, as the first casualty among the gods. Overwhelmed by darkness, in his last moments, some say he sacrificed himself in an explosion of the same magnitude of that of his birth, while other bad tongues argue that he simply wilted like the beautiful flower he was. Which interpretation is correct, one will never know, but it is certain that Ug Gandr's life and creations are of the most memorable of all, as they encompass everything that is beautiful. While Ug Gandr himself is venerated little, his agendas are the ones with the most followers, under his successors Sarenrae and Lugh . As such, it may be considered that his legacy lives on
