Creed of the Sun

History

The Creed of the Sun originated in what is now Don Anglon, it was the state religion of the Kingdom of Lyhtruth before it became Lighthelm. During those days rebirth played a big part in the faith, likely taking influence from the Oracles of Rebirth that had died out long ago.   It stayed like this for some time, until 35 Origin Age, where the Emperor of Don Anglon Peter II had sent out on an expedition into the, at the time, uncharted northeast; with he himself accompanying the expeditionary forces. In the furthest northeastern reaches, on an island far away the Emperor and his men spotted a great light in the distance, they had assumed it the Sun until they had gotten closer. Its shape revealed itself to them, a giant golden structure floating in the far skies atop a mountainous island. This structure was composed of two rings - one inside the other - spinning in random motions. The expedition did not know what to make it, they were all struck by its heavenly glow, and most including the Emperor himself were convinced it was of holy origin. And so the forces eventually came back with tales of these Golden Rings which eventually to the Anglican people turned into a gateway for the dead to go into the afterlife into the sky. This started the downward slope of themes of rebirth within the religion, as it was seen as denying a soul its rightful judgement by the Rings.   By the early Silver Age, while the religion was quite established, many influences creeped in from other beliefs, such as local beliefs who believed in Demigods. Many even in the Creed believed in these beings, for they walked amongst the denizens quite freely. One naming himself the Holy Knight had been wandering around the world for quite some time, and eventually belief of this being's divinity had found itself in the texts of the Creed. The eventual belief was that the Holy Knight was sent to judge this who are still alive so that they may improve if needed before their proper judgement.

Divine Origins

While the origins of the Creed are unknown, the faith is believed to have developed around the 5000's Origin Age, influenced by the teachings of the Oracles of Rebirth, as well as local belief systems.

Cosmological Views

Members of the Creed believe that the God of the world takes up two forms. During the day, God spreads its light and protection as the sun moving during the sky. While in the night, Gods power weakens, turning it into the moon, this allows evil creatures to come out during the night, safe from Gods wrath.   The Golden Rings of Anglon hold a large level of importance to the Creed, they are seen as the gateway to the afterlife in the endless reaches of space. When a creature dies, its soul will travel to the rings to be judged. If the rings deem the person unworthy, their soul will be stuck on the planet, however if they are worthy, they will go up into the sky to join God, as the stars that litter the night sky.
