Personal history

Man of the Garden

Born in 485 Silver Age as a low noblemen in Fairwood - Anglon within the city of Rillborn, Alder never lived a life of luxury like his peers did, he instead quite enjoyed cultivating his families garden while his parents were away. By the time of his teens he had grown the garden into such a luxurious place that many came to the city just to see the young nobleman's work.   By the time he was 25 (16 Earth years) Alder's botanism was noticed by the Emperor of Don Anglon, Henry III, who had Alder appointed as the Warden of the recently established Faywood Forest as a part of new internal expansion efforts into uncharted lands. This was a position Alder accepted with glee, moving as quick as he could to his new estate built within the heart of the forest.   By 512 Silver Age, the now Warden of the Forest had been in command for 2 years, and the forest was blooming like no other. Much like his garden, many nobleman and even peasants came from across the kingdom to relax in the luxurious Faywood Forest - this however did not last. Within the year, a stench like no other filled the air, smelling like death itself had found its way into the fair forest. The Warden was confused, unsure where the smell came from, yet that would be the least of his troubles soon enough.

Growing Pestilence

Thorny vines would start to grow around his forest, with a pale green stem and red thorns, oozing a sickly green mucus out of them, it was nothing Alder had ever seen, yet it appeared to be ruining his beloved forest, so he decided to stop them. Alder locked himself into research and testing for many moons to figure out the source of this affliction and how to stop it, eventually figuring it out. He had placed a special type of local rose, beloved for their colour, on a lit brazier. This turned out to be the answer, as he noticed the vines receding out of the room as soon as he let the rose burn.   Following this event, the once beloved Warden slowly grew more demanding to save his forest, as even the smell of the roses didn't deter the vines from eating away at everything he nurtured. He would soon create a Herbicide out of the extracted rose nectar, which he would spray around infected areas, to clean them of the infectious thorns eating away at the plant life.

Poisonous Cure

Yet his troubles would continue, soon the thorns would grow into the insides of visitors and locals alike, and so Alder had another idea - he decided to drink the rose extract - this worked as he expected, and made some thorns near him run away, so he gave the extract to all of his workers, ordering them to drink it daily. Little did he know at the time, the extract ate away at a person's physical strength, his workers fell to the thorns one by one, too weak to fight against them - and soon he himself would fall to the thorns, too weak to stand up from his chair, let alone to fight back.

Man of the Blight

The Blighted Forest, as his beloved forest became known as would not let Alder die in peace however, soon the thorns took control of his lifeless corpse, and began to stalk the village of Faywood next to the forest. By the locals he became known as Thorn, Bane of the Forest, an illusive hunter in the darkest reaches of the trees, waiting to pounce on any unlucky soul to wander near him.   He would continue to stalk the forests for generations, until 654 Silver Age, two humans named Doppel and Holly wandered into the forest. The lifeless undead responded much like it did for anything else, pouncing on them in an attempt to kill the pair - yet it would not prove victorious. The two would defeat the undead beast, finally letting the poor Warden rest.
