Eotha, the known world of Eotha primarily consists of two large continents and one smaller one. The eastern continent is
Nythlaang, meaning "New Land" in old Wyrthanhaalian the first language of men, is the home of human, halfling and dragon born nations. Humans and halflings only came to Nythlaang twelve hundred years ago, and their origins are shrouded in mystery. Humans and halflings upset the power balance of Nythlaang significantly and were referred to as "The Godless" by the races that predated them. Eventually the Godless went on to colonize the majority of Nythlaang, becoming the dominant cultures and societies on the continent, especially in the north where they originated.
The western continent is
Variala, meaning "Verdant Expanse" in Elvish, Variala was only know through the tales of the
Tal'dorenth and the Dwarves as the fabled home of the
Uluandi (High Elves) after they abandoned Nythlaang many millennia ago. Trade between Variala and Nythlaang was established three hundred years ago, but the route is treacherous. More recently the Khajit city caravan of
Rhintoha traversed the
World Between to arrive on Nythlaang, flooding the continent with knowledge and mementos from that far away continent.
The year is 912 YD (Year of the Dragon). In the northern
Kingdom of Wyrthanhaal a fragile alliance of duchies hold together a kingdom without a king. Good king
Wencel III , the last king of
Wyrth died 21 years ago sparking a 7 year civil war. Wyrthanhaal was diminished, losing lands to it's neighbors and suffering the cessation of two of it's duchies who claimed independence. To save the nation,
Earl Fenrys "Cold Eyes", the Earl of
Wyrth negotiated peace between the remaining dukes, forming a council that now rules in the king's stead.
Wyrthanhaal clings to it's history fiercely. Wencel III was a descendant of
Saint Avaria , the first Queen of Wyrthanhaal and the High Saint of
Bahamut. Many whisper that Saint Avaria would never let her line without an heir. But to date the only hope for the Avarian line, Wencel's long lost daughter
Ygritte, has not been found. Ygritte went missing 32 years ago in a snow storm, and even Wencel had mourned her as dead.
Now Wyrthanhaal stands on the brink of destruction. To the northeast,
Norgyanthia, the undead kingdom shrouded in darkness and mystery, has cast it's hungry gaze south. To the west a new threat emerges, and a clandestine organization that protects against extra-planar threats believes that this one could to bring not only the fall of Wyrthanhaal, but of all the human nations of the north.
