Session 26: The Standing Thief

Captain Cutter gave us a portion of the spoils he had obtained from the pirate ship. Considering we did most of the fighting while his incompetent crew was dying like flies, we honestly deserved a bigger cut. But I had to be content with not being regarded as a monster anymore and the others always let themselves be extorted anyways. While counting the coins, we noticed that some of them seemed to come from the Tarleshe Empire, which was very strange considering they’re a closed-off nation. When we talked to the captain about this, he seemed taken aback and didn’t want any of the foreign coins. Some of the letters that were found on the pirate ship also mentioned a “friend” in Catun that the pirates had worked with...   We finally arrived in the city. The others smuggled me off-board in the chest, which I hopefully won’t ever have to get inside again. Fjarldt noticed Captain Cutter speaking with some tough looking people, but he couldn’t hear what they were talking about. We finally said our goodbyes to ship and crew and made our way to the local temple of Valkia, where we were welcomed in.   But if we wanted to find out more about the Worm, we would have to find the information somewhere else. We decided to book some rooms in “The Monster & The Butcher”, an inn close to the Huntsmen’s Guild. The innkeeper told us that nobody was allowed to carry weapons or armour in the city, but I don’t really need any of that stuff anyway. If someone bothers me, I’ll just throw a fireball at them!   We decided to go to another pub, the “Standing Thief”, to hopefully find someone connected to the Worm. We split up and mingled among the crowd. Nyral played her instrument and gathered quite the crowd. From the audience, she learned that the Worm might be a merchant of the upper class. I think I saw Fjarldt talking to another Dragonborn at the bar, while Astrelh just sat in the corner, observing the scene.   I noticed a thin half-elf, who looked very nervous. I tried talking to her, but she didn’t really respond to me. I decided to keep an eye on her, which turned out to be a good decision. Just as Nyral seemed to get some valuable information from her admirers, the girl snuck up behind her and stole her coin pouch! She fled out of the inn, but we had all noticed the theft and pursued her…
