Vestonia
Structure
Vestonia is ruled by The High Council. The group of high mages is made up of the leader of each guild. The High Council creates the laws and rulings for the country although they leave the day to day matters to the guilds and the commoners. As such each city within Vestonia is more independent than those in theKingdom of Alteria. The council's will is enforced through the guilds and it is their job to keep the country running smoothly.
History
After the fall of the The Westreach Federation many wizards and mages fled from the warring in the north as there was much discontent towards magic and the arcane. They reached the Hightower and set up a base there. eventually a settlement set up around the Tower and the mages influence began to grow. they established themselves as the city's overlords and then created the guilds. This lead to a series of rapid expansion towards outlying villages and cities. Eventually their growth was halted by the Kingdom of Alteria. The two countries have been hostile ever since due to both their border conflicts and the Alterian's general animosity towards arcane magic.
Foreign Relations
Currently Vestonia is hostile though not at outright war with the Kingdom of Alteria . Relations between the two countries have been poor for the past century and only recently have talks of peace and an end to hostilities even been considered.
Vestonia also neighbors the city-state of Clearwater. These two countries currently have a good trade relationship but politically the High Council is unhappy with Clearwater's refusal to take a side in the conflict between themselves and Alteria.
