The Mages Guild

Structure

The Mages guild is the name given to the government of Vestonia. While called a guild they are much more of a governing influence on the lives if the citizens of Vestonia than an oridinary guild would be. Members may only join after graduating at the Academy in Hightower and to be admitted to the Academy they must have a sponsor who is a member of the mages guild. This is not uncommon as the guild is always looking for those with talent and it is usual for a farmer's son or a baker's daughter to be sponsored and sent to the Academy.   The Mages guild is broken off into the different subsection of magic and while a mage after graduating from the academy will choose one part of the guild to join they will still be competent in the other forms of magic. Each section of the guild is responsible for upholding a different part of society.

The Abjuration Guild

The Abjuration guild is responsible for defense and act as the cities security forces. The city guards throughout the kingdom are all members of this guild. They are also involved with building and fortifying the many cities defenses. They can be found through the kingdom and are relied upon to help keep the peace.

The Evocation Guild

The Evocation guild is responsible for for the militia and is the main offensive force in the military. Members of this guild make up the military and frequently patrol the kingdoms out cities and defenses. Most people in the central part of the kingdom will not see the Evockators that often as much of their work draws them to the borders.

The Illusion Guild

Highly secretive and elite the Illusion guild acts as Vestonia's spies. though officially their purpose is communication this is merely a thinly veiled lie to disguise their true purpose of intelligence gathering.

The Divination Guild

The Divination guild is responsible for planning. They are relied upon in daily life for predicting basic outcomes and answering questions the common people may have. When the rulers wish to build something or plan an attack they first consult the Divination guild.

The Necromancy Guild

The Necromancy guild is responsible for performing last rites for the recently deceased. Though not evil, the members of this guild are viewed as rather selfish due to the fact that most of their magic is about control over others. The citizens of Vestonia don't have trouble or problems with undead due to the guild's presence. They do however steer clear of any Necromancer powerful enough to summon such creatures.

The Conjuration Guild

The Conjuration guild is responsible for both civic and military jobs. As part of the military the Conjuration guild are the heavies who help control battlefields. Their civic duty relies on building projects and energy.

The Enchantment Guild

The Enchantment guild is responsible for public control. Whereas the Abjuration guild is responsible for the physical defense of the cities, the Enchantment guild is responsible for the mental safety and control. It is thought however that this guild also uses their powers to bend the minds of Vestonia's subjects to complacency.

The Transmutation Guild

The Transmutation guild is most known for their ability to complete odd jobs. The members of this guild are most common in the major cities and can be found anywhere in the kingdom.
