The Last Chance Lancers
Structure
The infrastructure of The Last Chance Lancers is overseen by 6 officers, each with their own title and responsibilities. These offices are referred to as Insignias, a special title meant to emphasize their role within the organization:
Genie, leader of the magical deployment and forces, sometimes referred to as First Spell
Chamberlain, a home operator that stays in Varkart to supervise the Lancer Headquarters and interview recruits
Crown Captain, overseer of political relations and job acquisitions
Ritual Master, responsible for preparing materials and inventory for the Lancer soldiers preparing for job deployments
First Forward, the battalion commander of the Lancer forces, approves all deployments and often will take especially dangerous missions to maintain the reputation of the guild as a capable force.
Captain Commander, the chief officer of the Lancers, oversees all guild activities and has the final word on any official guild matters.
Public Agenda
As an adventuring guild, the goal of The Last Chance Lancers is to accept job postings made by the public and by government officials to neutralize threats and resolve domestic conflicts. One goal in this capacity is to reach the title of "High Power", a status granted by the crown of The Colum Kingdom to only the most capable and powerful adventurer's guilds. Gaining this title entitles them to accept the highest risk jobs available only by royal decree or government contract.
Assets
The Last Chancer Lancers maintain a mobile force of roughly 4,000 able-bodied combatants. As a mercenary guild, they actively search for talent and recruit all across Terisirae. With several satellite operations and chapters spread all throughout the mainland, the Lancers are incorporated in Varkart , where they maintain their head offices.
History
Founded roughly 15 years after the establishment of the town Varkart, the LCL has been an institution in the area since its inception. It has played a pivotal role in The Commonwealth, shaping many historic events and battles.
Despite its generally good reputation, it has suffered two major embarrassments in recent history. The first, the infamous Festival Feast, a night of blood and horror where a prominent Lancer named Ser Alduric Veren killed 300 people, guild members and political figures. The second, the The Three Crown War, where the Lancers were employed by The Commonwealth to put down a rebellion and failed, ultimately leading to mass destabilization in the region.
With these two demerits, the new Captain Commander, Heathcliff Wyrmsteel, has a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove on the way to redeeming his organization.
