The History of Engwilt so far
The first Civilization that existed was the Engwiltans, who had a seemingly world-spanning empire, leaving behind ruins that speak of their great mastery of the Correspondence. It is unknown how they were destroyed, and it seems that not even the devils have any knowledge about them.
The last Civilization that fell was that of the Infernal Kingdom, destroyed in a revolution that even shook the surface world. At the end, the revolutionaries were successful and established the New Republic, led by the Buerocracy, heralding a new age for Hell.

Current Species & Cultures
The Vailians are a mostly human population that has acted as the old Ramerian Empire's center of trade. As such, they have a culture that is heavily dominated by wealth and trade, as they are the only successor state without a hereditary nobility or ruling class, as even the title of Duke - seven of which exist to rule the nation - can be purchased with money. As such, they are the most socially mobile culture of the continent, yet also the nation that is most uncharitable on its poor and downtrodden.
