Infernal

The language spoken in the New Republic is, unimaginatively, called Infernal by Ramerian sources. It is a distinctly non-human language, as the mere act of listening to it causes intense headache and even nausea in most mortals.

Utterance

Contrary to how mortal languages work, Infernal is not spoken through the mouth at all, making it entirely impossible to utter for most humanoids. Instead, it is created by an outrageously high-pitched series of clicks. A mortal can still attempt to utter this dangerous language's awkward words after extensive study, yet it will always be painfully obvious that they are not native speakers. Still, devils have been known to appreciate the effort of the 'lesser races', as they call them, to learn Infernal.
Certain scholars also believe that Infernal is similar to the Correspondence in that it has the capability to shape reality to its whim, yet in contrast to the former, where singular words can already create harrowing consequences, Infernal requires entire stories to be recited before taking effect. And even in those cases, certain observers believe that there was no actual power in those stories themselves, but rather a trick played by devils to make diligent scholars recite endless hours of pointless tales in a language that hurts to use.

Due to these rather uncomfortable side-effects thrust upon the unfortunate mortal subjected to it, this language is rarely ever used by devils outside of the New Republic, aside from when they want to ensure no uninvited ears are listening in to whatever infernal plans they set in motion.
