The royal dynasty ruling Nippon. The Nihonjin people live in a feudal society in which they worship their emperor as divine, carrying the blood of Sylthari who they call Amaterasu.
While their primary patron is Sylthari, they also possess magic from Wylrith who heavily favored Sylthari when she was young. In fact, as the first Aethid, a handful of the Erlithmanil took interest in her favored people so they have high variance of racial magic.
Due to their proximity to the doldrums and the continued protection of Sylthari, they are a nation that has never suffered under successful foreign invasion. Their only outside influence has primarily been their Yaxiyan neighbors, Zhongguo and Danguk. As such, the archipelago is poorly understood by the rest of the world. However, after their success in Yaxiya, the Kingdom of Accia has set their eyes on the archipelago.
Culture
Unlike many other cultures, over the years the archipelago has developed a unique cultural custom of hiding their magic forms, particularly among the elite. One's form is considered private. Only the poor or unrefined rely on their form for survival and only warriors wear these forms openly. Revealing your form is considered unrefined or, given the context, a threat. Among the rich and elite, among nobility, it is vulgar to share your form with anyone outside your own family. Some even view it as a kind of secret weapon, reserved only for the most desperate situations. Outside of the capital, this is less intense. Many farmers, fisherman and soldiers rely on their form constantly. It is within high society one's form is considered private. These customs are poorly understood by outsiders.
