House Jakson
House Jakson, occasionally known by its formal name, the "House of the Sons of Jakonia," is the imperial house of the Jakonian Empire. For nearly one thousand years, every Emperor has been a scion of this house, leading both their family and the empire. They continue to be best known for their positions of power within the Fruitlands, the very foundation of the Empire's power. Many lords claim allegiance to this House, though few are privileged enough to be members. House Jakson holds some of the most powerful positions in the Jakonian Empire's infrastructure, although their family's over influence has been declining at roughly the same rate as the Empire itself.
Public Agenda
The main agenda pushed forward by House Jakson is the preservation of the Empire at any cost. They believe that maintaining the Empire as it is now is more important than any would-be dreams of expansion. They have also lobbied heavily for the continued development of the Imperial Navy, as a wooden wall to protect the current boundaries of the nation. Lastly, on the domestic front, they wish for more centralization of power and the weakening of the autonomy of the lords of the Empire, which has grown by leaps and bounds over the past century.
Assets
The assets of House Jakson are said to be the assets of the Empire. The Imperial Army and Navy is directly under the command of the Emperor, and loyal to none other. This represents the most powerful military force in all of the Jakonian lands, albeit only at sea. They similarly have access to the coffers of the Empire, which even in decline are quite substantial. The lands of the Fruitlands are directly owned by the Jaksons, and everything within the Fruitland Wall offers them increased wealth and geopolitical power. The vast majority of foodstuffs traded out of the Empire are owned initially by the Jaksons, and their issuing of free harvesting rights to any residents of the Imperial City have given them immense popularity among the lower classes. They have eyes and ears all throughout the Fruitlands, and their influence is second to none.
History
The history of House Jakson is said to be the history of the Jakonian Empire. The original founders of the movement that led to the creation of the empire were the heads of the Jakson family, and according to family legend, they had foreseen the fall of the Nameless Empire. Armed with the knowledge of impending apocalypse, the original Jaksons had rallied friends and family, and armed themselves with the most powerful weapons available. The stockpiles they had accumulated proved to be their greatest asset when the world finally settled after the Fall. The Jaksons used these amassed weapons to build an army and launch the greatest conquest known in Emicara. The rest, as they say, is history.
Today, House Jakson's storied history remains little more than a relic of bygone ages. Recent leaders of the House have been mostly focused on preserving the loyalty of the other houses of Jakonia. The past few emperors have been more diplomats than warriors, and this has led to tensions among House members. Quite a few have embarked on exploratory expeditions to the north or south, and very few of those have returned. The current emperor has placed a moratorium on any more members of House Jakson being involved in these expeditions, hoping to protect the family from dissolution or further disaster.
