Emdar
Emdar is the largest kingdom in the known world, formed after John Darren I successfully united the squabbling kingdoms against a demon invasion known as The Breach. Rather than to collapse back into separate clashing states, the kingdoms of Emdar decided to stay as one under the imperial rule of John I. Emdar consists out of four kingdoms with Darrenland at the heart, Fallore, to the north, Skyria to the east and Gellar to the south.
At the heart of Emdar stands the capital city of Darren, home to the Imperial Palace and its court. The lands surrounding Darren are under the direct jurisdiction of the Crown. Darrenland is mountainous, or "close to the heavens" as its denizens would put it. The country consists of peaks and valleys, with settlements in most every habitable depression. For a comparison to our world, think Austria.
To the south of Darren lie the more temperate lands of Gellar, administered by House Gelgis. Gellar is an arid and rocky land, not too suited for agriculture. The southern tip of Gellar is fractured into countless little isles called the Karpós or Fruit Isles, swimming in the eponymous Karpós Sea. The largest island in this chain is Pearl Island, home to Mirthall, the ancestral home House Gelgis. The biggest city on Gellar is Thelos , the port town. Gellarians are known for their olives, music and relentless pursuit of knowledge.
The Karpós Sea is enclosed by land on all sides. To the south it is sealed off by a huge landmass the Emdarians refer to as Monstross . Sailors who sail past this land note spotting huge creatures, tall as mountains, striding across empty fields, causing tremors with every step. There has never been a successful attempt to settle this coast, all attempts having ended in tragedy. To the west the Karpós Sea is literally sealed by an ancient gate of unknown make, the Seaseal. It is too huge to have been created by human hands, so it is commonly believed to have been placed there by The Smith during the Forging of the World, to protect Emdar from the leviathans that are said to swim the Wild Sea. To the east, the Karpós Sea is hemmed in by an impassible, impossibly hot desert simply called The Scorcher.. Attempts to cross The Scorch have likewise only ended in tragedy.
To the east of Darrenland and north of the Scorch lie the lush and vibrant fields across which the Knights of Reimdal roam. By far the largest territory of Emdar, the plains of Skyria are governed by House Reimdal. It is by far the biggest area, stretching from the mountains of Darren to the end of the world, the impassible Wild Sea. Whole swathes of this area are only loosely regulated and home to nomadic peoples who pay only token tributes to the the Knights of Reimdal. Most of the Emdarian population is centered around Regensburg, the biggest city in Skyria and Emdar as a whole, outpacing the capital of Daren in both population and size. Skyrians are known for horse-riding, martial prowess and an honorable, if sometimes rigid spirit.
To the north of Darrenland lie the cold lands of Fallore, governed by House Holstar. It is sparely populated, but rich in natural resources in the way of minerals. Its largest city is Holger, home to House Holstar. It is also home to the Holy City of Hexagonia, where stands the Great Hexagon, the principle temple of The Church of the Holy Hexagon.
To the west of Darrenland and Fallon stand the impassible mountains known as the Demomites, home to many unsavory demons. It is generally accepted as the edge of the civilized world. It is unknown what, if anything, lies beyond.
