Alleriath Organization in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Alleriath

"We are the Twin Kingdom, and we are destined to rule Drumis---as soon as the Houses see fully eye-to-eye, that is."

Formed after the Pact of Twin Blood, Alleriath is a kingdom defined by its dichotomies: the lack of food in the north and the plenty in the south; the tradition and strength of the north and the experimentation and growth of the south; the swordsman and land strength of the north and the aerial and naval might of the south. These dichotomies are most clearly manifested in the Twin Houses of Alleriath who forged the kingdom, House Llyran in the north and House Allery in the south. These Houses exist in a (at times fragile) symbiosis that keeps Alleriath the most powerful kingdom on Drumis, but also in the most precarious peace.

The Twin Houses

Alleriath was created when House Llyran in the north and House Allery in the south chose to unite under one banner. This treaty, the Pact of Twin Blood, was signed after a prolonged period of skirmishes between the two Houses grew into a full-scale war known as the War of Twin's Fury. After three years of brutal battle, each House realized they could not easily destroy the other and should instead join together against their foes.
Thus, on Taeral 26, Cael, 513 AR, the leaders of House Allery and House Llyran met in Llytherdin and forged the Pact. They agreed to unite under a twin banner and combine their mights. Allerdeen was named capital due to its position as a trade hub, while Llyn would remain the military bastion of the kingdom---especially to enable northern expansion. This unity, while somewhat fractious, enabled each House to grow far more than they did on their own.
This Pact has remained ever since, although the recent wars against Obrasea have taken their toll, and the increasing strife has made the members of the Houses antsy. The Pact holds, but nothing lasts forever.

Tempestuous but Powerful

The nature of Houses Llyran and Allery's agreement and history has created a country sometimes prone to internal gridlock. Although House Allery holds the capital, they are still beholden to the interests of House Llyran. House Llyran controls the whole of Alleriath's land army, but they rely on House Allery's farms and fisheries. House Llyran is deeply interested in settling the Cradle of the Lost, but House Allery continues to pursue wars to conquer Obrasea.   It is this split attention that could allow Alleriath to quickly outpace the other factions of The Warring Lands, but currently holds Alleriath back, instead. Unless the Houses can unite themselves more wholly, these split desires could very well spell the doom of Alleriath.

House Llyran's Swordmasters and House Allery's Griffinknights

House Llyran's land army is divided into two sections: their men-at-arms, who form the bulk of the force, and their Swordmasters, who are the smaller but far more impactful portion. Most men-at-arms are militia with some required training around the year; the Swordmasters live and breathe combat. The elven Swordmasters who started the branch are of House Llyran itself, and were Arms of Mithril in Camaerith. They have trained the countless other Swordmasters who now form the thousand-strong elite force. It is with the numbers of the men-at-arms and the precision of the Swordmasters that House Llyran is such a dominant force.   House Allery, although not the military half of Alleriath, has its own standing forces, of which its griffinknights are of note. When Allery left Yathra Silthame, it brought with it a few dozen members of the Order of Griffins. These members---and their mounts---went on to train and grow a small aerial force for Allery. Over the centuries, this force has grown into an impressive and elite detachment of griffin (and wyvern, as of late) riders.

Yathra Silthaman and Camaerithian Roots

House Allery is of Yathra Silthaman descent, having come from the Silver City after the political tumult it experienced in the late fifth century AR.. They were a minor house of some acclaim in Yathra Silthame, and they uprooted the whole of their holdings to settle Allerdeen in 482 AR.   House Llyran, on the other hand, came from Camaerith in the wake of the Great Expansion. They set forth from Fjallsathra's port shortly after it was recognized as a sovereign state by Valna Elendiir and the Camaerithian Circle, settling Llyran by way of Allerdeen's roads in 437 AR. Thus, Alleriath is a kingdom of two cultures, and they try to incorporate the best of each to build a new, powerful society.   This effort is not always met with success. In fact, the threat of civil war between House Llyran and House Allery has loomed no less than three times in Alleriath's brief history. Many are those who work to foster a longer lasting unity between the Houses, chief of which is the local Order of the Inner Dawn monastery. These monks are led by Master Ophin Birdiir, who studied under Valna Elendiir herself. He works hard with his students to try and broker a true peace within Alleriath, believing the kingdom could be the key to long-lasting Drumian peace, as well---a bastion of strength to stop the wars that define the Warring Lands.

By two we rise, by two we thrive, by two we die.

War with Obrasea

Alleriath has been in an on-and-off conflict with Obrasea for four decades. More often than not, these conflicts are centered around month-long sieges of Heedthren or Obrasea's border forts, although Alleriath has made some bold strikes at Veritas and Carnville by marching through the forests. Alleriath actually held Heedthren from 589 to 601 AR, but it was retaken by Obrasea at the start of the current conflict in 608 AR. Obrasea has started some of these conflicts, but almost always ends up defending against Alleriath's powerful military.
