Emperor Romauld Tor'Zuberi
Romauld Tor'Zuberi is the current Emperor of Eirena. All he wants is power, and his family. After losing his wife and newborn son to a horrible illness fifteen years ago, he began looking for ways to bring them back, but after all of the wizards, clerics, and sorcerers told him it couldn't be done, he began to look elsewhere.
He knew the story of Shahar'an, the Prideful One, who was banished to the underworld for his arrogance. His ancestors once worshiped the fallen Guardian, so he traveled back to Meleki to learn more about the dark magic. He spent a year combing through the ruins of Serebjer before finally finding the spell to call forth Shahar'an.
But the Guardian was still locked away, unable to be summoned into the world. Thinking he had failed, Romauld returned to Eirena a broken man. Years passed, then five years ago, the dreams began. Then the voices telling him that the magic-users had lied. There was a way to bring his family back, but first, the traitors must die.
Magic has been outlawed and those who use it are imprisoned or murdered for their deception. Shahar'an teaches Romauld how to use dark magic through his dreams. The price of this new magic, however, is Romauld's sanity. He has recently begun arguing out loud with the voices in his head and his council is beginning to consider removing him from power.
Physical Description
He is still fit and athletic, but he doesn't work out as much as he probably should, so he's begun to soften in the middle. He takes great care of his appearance, even dying his hair to keep from looking his age.
He has a medium skin tone passed down from his Melekite ancestry. His shoulders are broad and he has long, slender fingers.
He has a sloping nose, faint wrinkles from squinting his eyes to see, full lips and thick eyebrows.
There is a small scar on his chin and one in his left eyebrow from duels.
He is right-handed and walks with a rolling gait, so that, in his robes, he seems to glide across the floor.
He has recently begun to master dark magic under the tutelage of Shahar'an in his dreams.
Under his extravagant, deep purple and black silk robes, he wears leather fighting gear. He has a dagger sheathe on his right forearm and a circlet made of twisted gold in three colors.
He has a specially-made dagger sheathe on his right forearm that flips a dagger into his hand at the flick of the wrist.
Mental characteristics
Even as a child, Romauld was odd. He was, at best, temperamental and had no problem getting violent to get his way.
As a teen, he was arrogant, knowing that he would one day become Emperor. He was very intelligent and enjoyed showing off. The few friends he had were just like him and they were always in competition with each other.
When he entered the Guard, however, he was broken of many of his old habits and mellowed out as he was given more responsibility. The only thing that never changed was his penchant for violence, which saw him in many duels throughout his military service
Shortly after his thirtieth birthday, his father died, leaving him the throne. Suddenly, he had everything he had been looking forward to his whole life. In his arrogance, he decided that he must expand his empire, but his council cautioned him against making such a bold move so early in his reign. He was focused on becoming the emperor of the largest nation on Elyria, until he met Sofya, a daughter of a newly established noble family. She wanted nothing to do with him at first, but he knew how to be charming and she consented, at last, to marry him.
For Four years, he was actually happy. Sofya gave him a daughter first, but little Amina was her father's world. Shortly after the birth of his son, however, both the boy and his mother fell ill and no amount of medicine could help them, so Romauld turned to magic. When magic couldn't bring them back, he reverted back to the arrogant bastard he had been in his youth in an attempt to regain control over his life.
He had the typical noble education, arts, history, politics and etiquette. At sixteen, he attended the Hartspire University, specializing in history. He then spent ten years in the Eirenen Guard before gaining his throne.
He spent two years as captain of the Royal Guard before his ascension to Emperor.
He considers it a good thing to be the man responsible for the genocide of magic users in Eirena.
He sees himself as a failure because he couldn't bring back his family.
He is narcissistic, with Borderline Personality disorder.
He is intelligent, almost to a fault, using it as a weapon against those less-equipped.
His morals are based on what he perceives to be fair or in his favor. He will do what must be done to ensure that he gets what he wants. The only exception is Amina. His daughter is the only one who can get him to see reason.
He considers it a sin to tattoo or pierce your body, so any courtiers must hide any body modifications in his presence.
Personality Characteristics
He needs to free Shahar'an from his prison and take revenge on the magic users that failed him.
Romauld is well-versed in history and is an accomplished sword fighter. He is not diplomatic, however, being unable to compromise.
He likes collecting relics from eras long past, keeping them in a public museum on the Palace Grounds. He doesn't like animals, sees no reason to keep any as pets.
He is curious about everything, always needing to know how something works. He is bold, and creative, always trying new things. He is intuitive and empathetic, though he usually twists it to manipulate others.
He has recently become addicted to dark magic. He is manipulative, can be cruel, and his obsessions can be volatile, especially if he is kept from them for too long.
He is constantly fiddling with his insignia ring and, when he is hearing voices, he scratches at his left wrist.
He is obsessed with cleanliness and cannot leave his chambers without being perfectly groomed and his palace and grounds must always be perfect. People tend to get punished otherwise.

Romauld is charismatic and charming when he wants to be, but is usually indifferent to those around him. He has a large ego and is always needing to be the center of attention.
Romauld has very open body language, until someone disagrees with him, then he closes up, crossing his arms and puffing himself up to look bigger. He uses his hands a lot when talking and tends to tilt his head when thinking.
He has no pets, but enjoys reading historical books and collecting relics.
His speech is very condescending, he sounds like he is always "dumbing" down his words because the listener is not as intelligent as he is.
He is the wealthiest man in Eirena, though he donates quite a bit to the universities and the newly risen chapels dedicated to Shahar'an.
Concept - 5 The character has an interesting premise. I enjoy the realism of the character as well Style - 4 Very engaging and interesting. I did not find myself bored. Good use of paragraphing EBI Maybe flesh out the character a bit more. (This may just be adding followable links once you create more articles).
thank you very much! I'm actually working on fleshing him out now, so watch out for more.
I looked forward to it. (I live to devour lore of all types)
