Eirena

The Cradle of Life

Eirena is where life began on Elyria. There are currently about 4 million people residing in Eirena, most of which are the fair Eirenen, though there are some of the darker-skinned Melekites that have immigrated after the War of the Third Son.

The country is mostly plains with the occasional rolling hills. The CryingMountains border the northwest, separating Eirena from Lanashaun. The Plains of the Fallen lie to the west, the place wherethe wounded Guardians fell to earth during the Heavenly War (see The Creation of Magic ). The Singing Lake is a wonderous sight in eastern Eirena, near Lakeford, where the wind from the hills sings through the bulrushes. The Sandonn Bleak borders with the Meleki desert in the south.

Three of the four major Temples of the Guardians reside in Eirena: The Temple of Aer'el in the east, high on top of the Grey Mountain , theTemple of Crea'el, carved into the Great Tree of Knowledge, the biggest of the giant redwoods that inhabit the northern forest, and the Temple of Tena'el, the southern temple with it's eternal flame.

Temple Party

Mostly representatives from the four temples who are the voice of the everyman, though the temple reps have gone into hiding.

Seren Party

a new party that is more religious than political, who are trying to become the only political party, but are having difficulty legally doing so and have begun to resort to intimidation tactics.

Nice map! How big are the marked settlements and does most of the population live in cities or in unmarked villages? Also, the region seems to be a very good place to live, are there any downsides such as outside threats or internal conflicts due to a lot of people living on such fertile land? Or is it one haven-like country?

The marked towns are actually supposed to be rather small, but that was the smallest icon I could get on Inkarnate. The cities are several thousand people strong, but most people live in smaller cities and towns. Eirena is a good place to live, but external conflicts are rising due to the poor rule of the Emperor as he becomes more and more insane.

Wow, that's unusally rural region. Interesting. And is the emperor going insane a natural thing, and external influence or a spoiler? :D

Aug 22, 2018 18:09 by Nichole Roach

It is fairly rural, but there are about 5m people all told. If you take a look at my Romauld Tor'Zuberi article in the sidebar, you can see why he's going insane.

I like how the article has details on the various flora and fauna of the region. The map above seems like i'd go well with the map system, is there another article else that describes other details like government, international relations, average settlements, etc?

Thank you! I've just started working on my world, so I dont have much yet, so keep an eye out for more!

This is a great start! Though I feel like this where using the sidebar would come in handy for making the article come alive for you.   I also like the Inkarnate map work, I take it the brown is where the rest of the continent is?

Aug 23, 2018 10:37 by Nichole Roach

Thank you! I don't know any code, so I'm lost on the sidebars and don't know what to put there. The brown is where the rest of the continent is :-)

I like the map here, id suggest using the individual building patterns to make it a little more varied and maybe give a bit more of a varied look to the settlements?

Aug 23, 2018 14:45 by Nichole Roach

Inkarnate doesn't have many free options for settlements; I'm not sure what you mean by individual building patterns?

Aug 23, 2018 14:50

I mean the repeated patterns. The same folder where you find the trees, have individual building patterns that you could use instead to put together individual settlements.

Aug 23, 2018 14:52

If you have done that then I apologise, but the map on the header is really blurry.

Nice article! I like the detail you've put into explaining the political parties and the trade of the location. I love the names that you've given the geographical features - how did the Crying Mountains get their name?

Sep 23, 2018 19:27 by Nichole Roach

They have waterfalls in the spring from the melting snow on the mountain tops that make the mountains look like they are crying.

Sep 22, 2018 00:42

Quite a nice setting for a story, almost feels like utopia ;) However I would like to know more about what tensions there are: temple reps dismissed? Imperium gaining power? More facets about these factions would be amazing!

Sep 23, 2018 19:29 by Nichole Roach

There is a bit more info on Romauld Tor'Zuberi's article, but the Emperor has outlawed magic, so if they were smart, the temple reps disappeared, otherwise, they were killed. I'll write articles about the political parties at some point.

This is a good, concise article, but I think it could do with some proofreading. There were a few grammatical errors and some words that ended up without a space.

Sep 23, 2018 19:30 by Nichole Roach

Thank you, I thought I caught them all. I'll look over it again.
