The Old Trade Road
Trade between the Greenwold and its neighboring realms has always been a hazardous affair - nevertheless gold is a powerful incentive to brave the dangers of the road. Nothing speaks to this more than the Long Road - the oldest and, by far, longest road in the realm.
Also known as the The Long Road, this lengthy route was established between Grayhaven and the prosperous cities of the east in ancient days. In its heyday it connected merchants and travelers from many lands. More recently, however, the road has become little more than a neglected set of wagon ruts in many parts - a grassy trail through dense forest.
The dark forest bordering the road, known as the Tanglebrier, has always been a haunt for bold goblins, hungry wolves, territorial elves, and darker threats. Despite the dangers, and the pull of gold, has earned the route a reputation as a training ground for heroes and knights. Any bard worth her salt can recite a dozen tales that begin with a caravan setting off down the Long Road.
The young and daring are still found beating a path along the old trail - ready for fresh adventure and new horizons.
