Your perform a ceremony to call forth the soul of a dead creature for revival.   The target creature must have been dead no longer than 100 years, the creature must not have died of old age, and the creature's soul must be both willing and at liberty to rejoin the body.   This spell closes all mortal wounds and restores any missing body parts, but you must have at least half of the target creature's dead body.   This spell also neutralizes any poisons but doesn't remove diseases, curses, or non-lethal wounds afflicting the target. If these aren't first removed prior to casting the spell, they take effect when the creature returns to life. The spell can't return an undead creature to life.   Up to three creatures (including yourself) can pay tribute to the deceased in the hopes of improving the likelihood of the soul's return.   Participating in the Ceremony. Each creature paying tribute makes an Ability Check with a skill deemed appropriate by the GM based on their tribute. A tribute might be anything from kind words, to valuable material offerings. The baseline DC of the Ability Check is 15, but the GM might lower this DC by 5 for a particularly sentimental or valuable tribute.   Revival Check At the end of the ceremony, you touch the dead creature and make a special check, rolling a d20 with no Modifier. The baseline DC for this check is 8, but it is modified in the following ways:

  • The DC is increased by 1 for each failed tribute Ability Check during the ceremony.
  • The DC is increased by 1 for each soul scar the creature has.
  • The DC is reduced by 3 for successful tribute Ability Check during the ceremony.
On a successful revival check, the creature returns to life with 1 hit point, and has 5 levels of exhaustion (regardless of how many levels of exhaustion it had when it died).   Regardless of whether the revival check succeeds or fails, the creature also gains a soul scar.
