Ability Check
An ability check represents an attempt to over a challenge using one of the six abilities- or a specific skill related to one of those abilities.
You make a d20 roll and add the relevant ability modifier. If the ability check calls for a skill in which your are proficient, you can add your Proficiency Bonus as well.
