Selendaar
The area of Alnn lying west of the Wverndun Mountains, Selendaar is comprised of vast forests, large hills, and rolling plains. It receives plentiful rainfall and supports a large ecosystem of plants and animals alike. With plentiful rainfall and with the Wverndun Mountains protecting it, Selendaar has always been a haven for civilizations, currently being controlled by the Orvulian Empire.
Geography
Selendaar's northern reaches are dominated by the vast forests of Jjyorkvald and the Wverndun Mountain range where it stretches into the region. This area contains great variance in altitude with the forests covering nearly all of the peaks. This region also contains a massive system of fjords along its coastline. These fjords stretch far inland, giving settlements protection from the sea while also offering access to the water.
South of the forests of northern Jjyorkvald, the trees give way to hills of rock outcroppings and thick pockets of shrubs that dot the landscape. This landscape continues along the coast southward, gradually the shrubs and rocky outcroppings subside to give way the rolling hills of southern Selendaar.
These smooth-rolling hills cover the entirety of southern Selendaar, tall grasses are the dominant plant in the lower regions giving way to short and tuff plants as the lands rise to meet the Wverdun peaks. Large and lethargic rivers wind their way across these plains creating flat wetlands where they reach the sea. The climate becomes dryer in the far south as the terrain once again becomes more rugged as it meets the area known as Sclavaa to the south.
Fauna & Flora
In the north, trees dominate the landscape with conifers being the dominant tree in the far north and gradually deciduous trees become common further south. For much the rest of Selendaar, grasses are the most common plant across the hills and plains that continue southward. A notable exception is the wetlands most commonly found at the mouth of rivers, here wetland trees cover the shoreline with tall grasses growing the shallow water just inland of the trees.
Natural Resources
The north and south of Selendaar are the most abundant with natural resources. Both areas have access to minerals and other ores through mines in their more mountainous regions with northern parts also being an abundant source of timber with its vast forests. The central areas of Selendaar with their flat plains and gentle hills are not suited for the extraction of goods from the ground and any mining must take place in the adjacent Wverndun Mountains.
The central area of Selendaar is perfectly suited to agriculture with its favorable climate and ease of movement. The hills and grasslands are also home to herds of roaming animals that have in many parts been tamed and domesticated.
