Gnoll Species in Elmaloris | World Anvil

Gnoll

Gnolls are a race of hulking, humanoids that resemble hyenas in more than mere appearance; they show a striking affinity with the scavenging animals, to the point of keeping them as pets, and reflect many of the lesser creatures’ behaviors.
Short, gnarled hyena humanoids who are notorious for their unabashed savagery.
Grimhoook gnolls are the absolute stereotype of the gnarled beasts, demonstrating relentless savagery- cannibalism, ritual killing, eating their friends- and unerring cruelty to all who dare enter their domain.
On the other hand, the Redharvest gnolls are those who have grown weary of the tireless cycle, and, with the help of an ancient benefactor, sought to claim a new life, one unfettered to the savagery of their kin. It isn't unheard of for the Redharvest gnolls to send emissaries out into other lands, to try and build- or repair- relations with the other races of the world. The elves welcome these reformed gnolls readily, while the catfolk to their east are understandably wary. Despite any difficulties, there has been enough of an exchange between the three peoples that languages have been shared for a few generations.
