Meerowmee has since been appended "Mirromy" by Archmagister Azita Drelzith and the Council of Magisters.
Studies have revealed that the mirromy species has some similarities to the average humanoid in our society, with two legs with rather analogous feet, two arms with similarly comparable hands, and a head situated above the torso, resting on the neck. Differences start appearing with their senses, as while yes they have a nose, tongue, and eyes, their sense of hearing comes from their antennae, not the ear-like structures on the side of their head, which are apparently gills. In addition, every mirromy encountered possesses a gemstone of some kind upon their forehead. Early on, we encountered a small one with a fractured gem, but by the end of the study week, the fracture had healed. Healed. This says to me, and my fellows alike, that the gems are natural formations, and are tied intrinsically to the creature's natural healing abilities.
A problem was noted by Lady Yuan, in that their small numbers would lead to a stagnation in their gene pool before too long. She, myself, and my fellows put our heads together to figure out a solution. A tincture for genetic compatibility? Vetoed, that would muddle the pool too much. And then it came to us; a selective alter self, or similar polymorph incantation, placed upon volunteers through some means, who would join the mirromy people upon the next 'season', to test the results.
In the interim, I studied the various extracts drawn from the mirromy. Their internal structures house purified water, even in the breast, not milk as was initially surmised when one of their number came to our camp with distinctly mammalian features upon her... their?- bosom. In addition to the purified water, the species has numerous frills and tendrils, and something towards the outer edges converts the water into a kind of toxin. Self-applied tests, gently dropped upon my forearm, led to a distinct numbness upon my outer scales. Paralytic, it seems, though only mild if applied topically. I postulate that its effects would be severe if somehow ingested, or injected. The hollow spike at the tips of their tongues do not seem to contain a reservoir for this toxin, though the tongue spike can be lanced outward with impressive force and speed.
A study of mirromish reproductive organs and related processes has been called for, but, notes related to it have been redacted from the publishing of this treatise. A separate booklet will be provided in time, that covers this topic.
An alarming development has come to pass in the weeks since the volunteers were sent out to mingle, as they have since returned, having partial mirromy anatomy upon them. Exact details of the anatomy, much the same, have been redacted and will be separately published.
