Specialty Classes in Element 133 | World Anvil

Specialty Classes

Specialty Classes may be selected as a base class by making your first upgrade with a feature from tier one of these classes. Specialty classes each grant their base class abilities and features that are gained for no AXP cost. They have features spanning tiers 1 through 10 and have 48 features across all tiers. Specialty classes also contain feature trees, the equivalent of subclasses in D&D 5e. Some feature trees prohibit access to other trees, some do not, and some contain features that allow the removal of this restriction once a certain requirement of tier is met.

Taken from resources across the internet including d20 Modern, D&D SRD and Unearthed Arcana, Homebrew, and my own head, these classes are mostly playtested, but not in the combination and structure contained within. While they are balanced a feature may end up being too powerful or underpowered and may need to be adjusted during gameplay. Please be patient with the process, and by the end, we should have an excellent set of classes ready for use in further phases, my future campaigns, and yours! While a single specialty class provides you with everything you need, many general classes have features that dovetail nicely with a certain specialty class (ex. Fast Hero and Hustler, or Strong Hero and Bruiser).

Characters who select a specialty class as their base class, or choose to multi-class into a base class are heroic adventurers specialized in a specific toolset like the computer proficient technician who utilizes nanotechnology, programs, and hacking to create awesome effects. Use these classes to build fantastical Sci-Fi characters similar to those you read about in books or see in TV shows and video games. Want something similar to Master Chief from the Halo game series? Choose the champion class. Want a character similar to Emmet Brown from the Back to the Future series? Choose the chemist class. Want to create a character like Neo from the Matrix? Multiclass in the technician and hustler classes.
