Mink Special Unit

The Mink Unit is a special operations division entrusted with safeguarding the Hearthstone and Link Chains. They also execute delicate missions on behalf of the Harmony leadership. The unit, known as the "Protectors of Harmony," is made up of elite warriors who have received extensive training. They're known to be masters of several weapons. When they are on the case or on a protection detail you know they won't be a problem.

Public Agenda

They are elite knights who serve as both protectors of Harmony’s nobles and leaders, as well as their trusted right hands. These knights are tasked with handling the most difficult cases, high-level investigations, and, when necessary, small-scale armed operations—including managing situations with catastrophic potential.

Assets

OctoSigil Cloak

They wear a distinct burnt orange cloak embedded with a circular device that is divided into sections (resembling an octagon). It is used to store and deploy their weapons. While it resembles a any slot holder of weapons, it's more accurately described as a dimensional setup array. In the center of the object store the pocketed dimension which hold all 8 weapons. This allows instant access to various weapons, deploying them tactically around the wearer. Though often used for stealth and surprise, the cloak itself serves additional functions: it reinforces the wearer’s defenses and dampens their magical energy coming from their magical tattoos.

Thanks to these cloaks, the magical tattoos and the storage device, remain hidden from magical detection. The presence completely masked unless revealed by specific anti-illusion techniques or high-tier divination. It has one last minor function. The secret switch that was activated would unravel the ropes and drop to the floor, unleashing Mink soldier and all of their strength.

8 Weapons

All eight weapons are personally and magically enhanced based on both the soldier's desires and the judgment of their commanding officer. Much like their tattoos, these weapons are considered an extension of the soldier's body and identity—each one infused with personal intent and utility. This will allowing for seamless integration with the wielder.
• Long Spear – Offers extended reach and flexibility in both formation and solo combat.
• Dual Short Swords – Designed for fast, close-quarters strikes and surprise attacks.
• Long Sword – The classic weapon of discipline and reliability-no proper guard goes without one.
• Whip – Used to capture fleeing enemies or inflict controlled pain when needed.
• Pair of Sai – Ideal for disarming foes quickly and efficiently in melee encounters.
• Retractable Shield – Provides agile defense, especially when paired with one-handed weapons.

Magical Tattoos

They bear a wide range of magical tattoos—some discovered in ancient records, others acquired through trade, studies, or personal invention. There are tattoos to enhance control use specific types of spells, the list can go on. Each Mink you can pick any and all tattoos they want and can wield. However, two core tattoos are required by every member of their order:
1. The Turtle Shell Tattoo
Located on the off-hand, this tattoo resembles a turtle shell made of interlocking hexagonal circles. It symbolizes their order and functions as a defensive force-field generator. In most cases, it produces a personal shield, but when combined with others of its kind, it can generate a powerful protective barrier over high-value targets, such as the Hearthstone. Tactically, this tattoo gives a massive defensive edge and is considered their most iconic mark and their logo.
2. The Unity Slime Tattoo
This one begins at the base of the spine and stretches upward, resembling a stylized slime. It links to all other tattoos the wearer possesses via a network of magical lines and symbols along the spine. At the center is a unique arcane sigil containing medical and energy-conduit symbols. This tattoo allows the user to activate all their tattoos simultaneously for a short burst—up to five minutes—granting enhanced combat abilities and near-superhuman performance.

Fighting Style

The Mink's first and most basic combat style is the one they are best known for. In this style, they wear their distinctive orange armored robes, which offer both protection and utility. Each Mink can draw from a set of eight weapons: a long spear, dual short sword, Long Sword, Whip, a pair of sai, and a retractable shield. While they are trained to use all eight, each Mink typically favors one or two weapons at a time during combat. In this state, they are considered hardened warriors and masters of conventional weaponry.

However, when the robes are removed, everything changes.

Shedding the robes activates a second combat mode. The tattoos on their bodies begin to glow, unlocking latent magical power that enhances their physical capabilities—boosting strength, speed, agility, and reflexes to superhuman levels. Natural weapons may form from the ink itself, and the previous limitations imposed by the robes vanish. While they are formidable fighters with weapons, once transformed, they are considered masters of the deadliest weapon: themselves.

History

The Mink Unit originated in a post-Bloody Fist War world of Harmony. They dispatched a crew to scout and secure suitable colony sites, ensuring that no Orc soldiers or threats remained in the area. During one such mission, they spotted a disguised structure deep beneath the jungle. At first view, it looked like a natural structure or a diamond-shaped grove of trees. Those attempting to approach would instinctively turn away due to the latent magical influence. It took their wizards a full day to figure out how to dispel the magic.

After breaching the perimeter, the team discovered an old, dusty stone facility covered in cobwebs. The upper floor was vast and mostly barren, with faded circles drawn in ink that still reverberated with residual magic. The team believed the facility used them for rituals. It was unclear what the rituals were for, but the presence of various circles indicated that the facility had previously hosted numerous magical experiments.

As the team descended, the second floor resembled a living space, with basic but intact rooms (kitchens, bathrooms, and quarters) indicating long-term occupancy. The third floor, however, was unsettling. Several arranged beds with needles and carved powerful magical circles around them. Unlike the faded ones above, these retained a significant amount of power. It became evident that experiments, possibly involving body enhancement, containment, or something worse, had taken place at this facility. The team discovered empty vials, used inks, and other evidence of magical research. Their two wizards speculated that the site could have been dedicated to ritualistic human enchantment or even unethical magical augmentation.

In a trap-filled back room, the team narrowly avoided a magical explosion. Inside, they discovered a study with a skeleton seated with his hand up at the table. Within a reinforced stasis field, there was an orange cloak and stacked books. At a closer look at the skeleton, you would see magical symbols in black ink still marked its bones, eerie and arcane in nature. Contained within the protective wards were four ancient books and the cloak itself. They made sure there was nothing else going on with the magical shield on it. It only protects and keeps what is in it preserved. The researchers took the force field down and sealed them in containment tablets for further study once they deemed them safe for transport.

Findings

The volumes were eventually discovered to describe an ancient martial style that mixed physical combat with magical ink tattoos, each offering the user unique powers and enhancements. A note about the creator and founder of this style: he did not name it because he was trying to keep it secret because during his time several warring nations were trying to get him and his followers. He told his followers to spread to the far reaches of the continent, and he stayed behind to hide and protect her secret hearts, praying that the person that finds them will use them to protect and safeguard other

The orange cloak was more than ceremonial—it functioned as armor and storage, concealing weapons like spears, longswords, and daggers. They charmed it with reinforcing spells and cloaking wards to conceal magical presence, ostensibly safeguarding both the user and the secrets of the style.
