Impervious Cold Condition in Elema | World Anvil

Impervious Cold

Other diseases and viruses include the Impervious Cold, which is one of the most frequent and vexing infections. The symptoms aren't all that bad: sneezing, coughing, headaches, and a lack of energy. The trouble is that neither contemporary medicine nor magical spells can appear to cure it. Unlike other viruses and bacteria that can be helped by medicine or magic, this virus appears to have a gift for telling all schools and practices of healing arts to go to the deepest darkest pitch of the divine realm because they're not leaving.

Transmission & Vectors

It is passed on in two ways. The first is airborne, where someone may sneeze or a coughing could release it into the air, and adjacent people may get it. The other is touched a surface with the virus and it can survive there for three to six hours. Anyone who touches it and then touches their face may contract the infection. The virus is known to infect mermaids and other sea creatures. They frequently cast this by flying creatures entering the facility or conversing with other land-based species.

Symptoms

These are the most typical symptoms of the Impervious Cold.
  • Sore Throat: A scratchy or irritated throat that makes it difficult to speak
  • Runny or Clogged Nose: yellow and green snot accumulates or leaks from your nose. This is making it difficult to breathe.
  • Sneezing: an involuntary action taken to try to clear the airway of your nose. Casting spells with verbal components should be done with caution. You could accidentally speak the wrong thing and disrupt the spell causing a mishap.
  • Coughing: is an automatic reaction of your lungs trying to clear your throat. It is possible that your lungs or throat could become painful. Casting spells with verbal components should be done with caution. You could accidentally speak the wrong thing and disrupt the spell causing a mishap.
If mermaids start coughing underwater, they may choke on it. Because they breathe through their gills when they're underwater. Coughing crosses their respiratory systems, putting water into their lungs rather than oxygen.
  • Headache: The searing pain in your head is most likely the result of a clog in your respiratory system. Not the only reason and you could just end up with one.
  • Low physical and magical energy: As your body attempts to heal itself, it depletes your energy source. Making you feel sluggish and exhausted, as well as having less magical energy than usual to use your powers

If these symptoms persist for more than three weeks or worsen, you should consult a medical professional.

Treatment

The best treatment is plenty of rest, fluids, and time. Sorry to disappoint you, but medicine and magic have little effect on this infection. It appears to adapt and resist all forms of remedies, but it only lasts 10 to 24 days on average. Most persons with an average immune system will be able to resume work or regular activities within a week or two. There is now a suppressor(3 Orange Peel ) that can assist you in helping take care of some of your daily life, but it is not a cure.

Affected Groups

Any group of species with a respiratory system that breathes oxygen. It doesn't matter if you're land sea or air you all can be affected.

Prevention

The best method to avoid it is to wash your hands frequently. People who are coughing or sneezing and have a runny nose should be avoided. Despite you doing all this. The fact that this is such a frequent infection, you will have it one day.

Cultural Reception

Most people regard this as an irritation, but workaholics see it as agony. Scientists and doctors alike despise this virus, as do those in the medical field. researchers that are in the field of viruses and bacteria cure. see this virus as the ultimate challenge.

Oh, my gosh, this isn't like some magic version of the flu? Or is it?   Whatever the case, excellent article!

lol Yes, to our planet. To the world I created, this is the influenza (common cold) they have. I made an effort to consider what transpired with magic in the world, and it is a part of everything in the world. So this is how I imagine a virus working against magic. I'm glad you enjoyed the article and thank you for reading.
