Ascending Lichdom
"So you want me to reveal the secret to Ascend into Lichdom?" Well, my apprentice. Are you sure you're ready to rip your soul from your body, transform your body into embodiment of undead, and outlive everyone you know? Could you maintain your sanity during and after the procedure? What would the power of immortality gain you?" ____________ "Well if you are certain let's begin." Words said by Lich Zach to each of his apprentices. Most people are unfamiliar with the ceremony of ascending into the Lichdom. There are extremely few arcane tones or persons who understand how to do this ritual completely. Mostly because no one wants to become a Lich, and the second reason is that those who keep it hidden. First and foremost, you must desire to join the undead, or at least achieve some form of immortality. That is the essence of what Lich is: a living undead necromancer. As undead you will have maintained your conscious awareness and keep the ability to act independently. You also have complete control over all of your magical power, and you can continue to develop them.
Effect
Your soul will be separated from your body and placed in a phylactery. This phylactery is your only weakness. Your body will become undead. First, your skin will be pillar, which is thinner and more like skin and bones, but you will retain the most of your natural features. Your body is now invincible; even if it is destroyed, it will regenerate. Your body still has magical energy coursing through it, as well as a burst of necrotic energy. You can use all your spells but one from the school of restoration. Your body will also boost up your Necroic spells even more. If you want a more in-depth explanation of what you acquire from becoming a Lich, there are tomes that explains what a Lich is.
Choose a suitable location for the ritual, then mark both your body and the phylactery with magical symbols using your own blood. No, I will not reveal what these symbols are—I have no desire for anyone to actually attempt this. The symbols will appear across the phylactery and all over your body, including your back. Next, kneel with the phylactery and a drum in front of you. For the next 44 minutes, slowly beat the drum while focusing your energy on both the phylactery and the rhythm. With each strike, infuse a small amount of magical energy so that the sound resonates with your power. This process will gradually synchronize your body with the phylactery and prepare you for the next step. Throughout this time, you must also chant continuously. When the 44 minutes have passed and you complete the final portion of the chant, you will feel deeply relaxed and slightly disoriented.
Stay focused—if you fall asleep, the ritual will fail, and the phylactery will be ruined. Now, speak the next incantation to charge your hands with the magical energy necessary for the soul transfer. You have exactly 13 minutes while your phylactery, body, and soul we'll be at the perfect synergy for what comes next. As you complete the incantation, your hands will glow with a mesmerizing dark green and purple energy. Place your hands at the core of your body and begin the process of extracting your soul.
This will be the most excruciating pain imaginable. Many believe that breaking bones is the worst agony one can endure, but no one who has ever damaged their soul or attempted to tear it from their body has said the same. The pain will be beyond anything you have ever experienced, but you must endure it. You have only 13 minutes to complete the transfer—failure means death, with no second chances. As you wrench your soul from your body, your entire form will feel as if it is being shredded, burned, beat and so much more. The moment you successfully place your soul into the phylactery, it will shift from clear to radiating your natural aura. If the ritual was successful, congratulations—you are now a lich.
Performing the Ritual
To begin, ensure that your phylactery is fully prepared, with the two gems and bone already placed inside. The next step is to let it absorb your blood over four days by submerging it in a bucket and leaving it outside.
